Hello
After receiving my 68 Dodge Charger few months ago, we have finally got the car registered. There have been few issues with it such as windscreen leaking and and window wiper blades coming out due to not having clips. Other things such as incorrect headlight switch on it that did not have the vacuum hose mechanism on it and small things such as front wheel splash shields missing and a exhaust manifold leak. Thankfully all these things have been fixed and the only thing left to fix is the power steer box and pump leak. Next week the box and pump will get a complete rebuild (sadly thats 1000 dollars to do) but at least there are no more dramas with this car. In the last 4 weeks we have put 1200miles on the car and it drives absolutelly beautiful.
I have also come into a great business opportunity so soon enough I hope to see a Digital Camera (to post some pictures for you guys) and start seeing this original 383 H coded 727 on the column car turn into a 4 or 6 (haven't decided yet but probably 6) speed manual car with new suspension done to make it handle up with Corvettes Vipers and Diablos along with a nice 528 Hemi with 650hp.
I want to paint this QQ1 Blue charger a custom Orange with a chocolate brown stripe on the tail with Chocolate brown 17" wheels of some sort (no idea which but something not so common that really looks race like) to give it a really nice pro-touring look. I thought about black but I am a person that likes color on a car so a very dark brown has color in it and its in the family of orange so they work well and will be different to the general expectation. Bright colors also tend to look more race like to me and seem to suit the dodge charger perfectly. I will probably
add a dark brown 01 on the side of the door also (considering I loved dukes of Hazard) yet the number suits it since its going pro-touring. No flag on the roof its simply an orange charger with few bits to look pro-touring such as a spoiler up front and numbers on the door (and I like 01). So it will be a little mix of what I remember watching as I was growing up (orange and 01) yet its a custom car that doesn't even have the General Lee wheels etc but the ones I want. Wilwood 13" brakes full billet aluminium and the rest I will have to see what (changing iron to alloy wherever possible to reduce weight).
My car currently weighs in 1672kg in original form. Going with a full 528 alloy block etc I estimate will drop or brake even on the weight but once a tubular chasis gets made along with alloy Bilstein custom shocks, coil overs front and back etc etc I assume with full trim I should be able to knock off 200-300 at most kg bringing the car down to 1400kg which is pretty good considering diablos weigh more.
Well these are my long term goals obviously but I thought I would share my vision of what I would like my car to one day be (whether it ever gets there or not I dont know but hey... thats my vision and dream)
Cheers
George
