I just bought ROH snypers in 17X9 w/5" back space for my 79 t/a I can e-mail you some pics after I mount them ( the wheels should be here today), but call Jeff at groupawheels.com he told me that they did not have any more but find out before taking my word for it, to answer your question 4" back space will not be a problem, I'm putting 275-40-17 in front and 285-40-17 rear tires.

JoelJet,
StreetKing is running 18" AR CL205s on his red 73 T/A...
255/40/18f 295/35/18r
Yody is running 19" CCW 505As on his Formula...
255/35/19f 295/30/19r
You can do a search and find pics of thier cars here...
Hope this helps...
For 17s 245/45/17f with 4.5"bs and 285/40/17r with 5.5"bs
seems to be the standard for 2nd Gen F-bodies...
Hope this helps...

You can run larger than 17 x 8 without any clearance problems. I would recommend 4.5 inches of BS on front and rear with an 8 inch rim. This would duplicate the BS on the factory 8 inch rims. With 4 inches I would be afraid that the rims would be outside the body lines. The other problem you might run into would be that the car would wander on road ruts bad.

I am running 17 x 9 without any problems using 5 3/4 BS on front and 5 1/4 on rear. I originally was running 5 1/4 on front and the car wandered bad on grooves in the pavement.

If you are looking for an inexpensive set of 255/45/17 tires I have a set of 4 with around 500 miles on them. I pulled them as they did not fill up a 9 inch rim enough. They are Kumho and I would take $250 for them if you are interested.
