Purchased another 69 to build with one catch, the wife has to be able to drive it. This one will have an ls1 motor out of my car (2000 LS1) my question is does somone make a stand alone controller for this trans yet? Thanks.

contact speartech, A LS1 is a 24x and a 6L80E is a 58x, it would be a lot easier to use the 6L80e with a 58x LS2 or any other LS that is a 58x reluxor. The LS1 could be converted to 58x, not sure if you want to go that route. hope that helps.

6L80E controller is built into trans.

If you where using a LS2 24X engine, I would tell you to contact Mast Motorsports. They say their M-90 DBW ECM for LS2 can comunicate 6L80E TCM without having to convert from 24x to 58X.

Will a 6L80E be that much better than A4 transmission? Check the gearing of the 6L80E and compare it to 4L60 and 4L80 gearing and what you get with it's 4 non overdrive gears, and how much of a benefit are 2 OD's

1st: 4.02
2nd: 2.36
3rd: 1.53
4th: 1.15
5th: 0.85
6th: 0.67

Strength wise, a well built 4L60E can handle more HP & TQ than a 6L80E or 90E at this time. Aftermarket has just started supplying clutch plates that are a little better than stock, and trying to develope stronger internals to make them live.

That said, TCI offers a 4L80E based 6X six speed that is advertised to handle 850 HP. It has 5 non overdrive gears that match up well with a 6 sp manual with 1 overdrive gear.

1st: 2.97
2nd: 2.23
3rd: 2.57
4th: 1.18
5th: 1.00
6th: 0.75

There should be at least 2 to 3 more 4L80E based 6 speed autos release by end of this year from a couple of other sources.

Probably be as cheap to do TCI 6x with controller and paddles as to do just 6L80E.

I have one of each in builds I have yet to get one of on the street.

The one with the 6L80E is just for cruising around in, and the 6sp is there to just make people think car is something special (EGO)...:attn: when parked...LOL

The 6X is in car that I'm trying to make a PRO Touring Event competive car, even if it does have 150lbs of sound deadner in it....LOL

I didn't mention ground clearance. Thats with ride heigth set higher than stock.
you can buy a G8 pan and filter that will give you a 1/2" more ground clearance.

And making sure trans has the right tail housing for a yoke and it's huge too....lol

There's at least one 4L65E that's good for 650 rwhp out now as well..

Seems you are way behind, per RPM Transmissions.

we have more than a few 1000hp cars running our 4L60e transmissions without any issues. These cars have put years on their transmissions without failure.
