Hey,

Anyone have suggested wrecking yards to find parts for our musclecars?

A friend is looking for a complete trunk floorpan for a 69 Chevelle (2 or 4 door since the trunk is probably the same...?). He basically needs from the back seat to the tail panel...with wheelwells attached. It should be fairly rust free. Use of reproduction panels for this project is completely out of the question.
He's also in need of a drivers side quarter panel for a 69 Chevelle convertible for a different car.

I've called all my local and specialty places I could think of.
I also tried Hidden Valley and Desert Valley in AZ are 2 that I've used in the past.

Are there wrecking yards you've had success with? Maybe starting a list would help those of us that need or want original used parts. Catalogs don't always work for getting what we want. :)

Thanks,

You might not be able to look up the exact part you want but you can at least figure out with their search function if they have a car that might have the part you want...... Then it just takes a phone call.

Looks like a cool tool if you're looking for an actual part. Unfortunately it doesn't work for trunk floor or other sheetmetal needs. :)

Wow, that's going to be a tall order, 'cause it seems like GM shipped them with rusty trunk floors.

I would think if they had a trunk lid, rear window, rear end, etc..... they might very well have the body (trunk floor) of the car they have it stored on.................

I've had good luck getting Chevelle parts from John Watts... not sure about sheetmetal though, being in the midwest, he might not have many rust-free cars to choose from.

CTC Auto Ranch is north of Denton. I have been there quite a few times looking for hard to find old parts. Odds are they have them, but be warned...They REALLY LOVE their parts and will rape you on prices. You can usually talk them down, but be ready for a shock.
I went for a glovebox door on my 63 Pickup and they wanted 100.00 for it. I talked with them for a bit and ultimately got out of there for 100.00, but got a steering column for free.

If you are looking for sheet metal, it is going to be hard to come by in good condition. These have been sitting in the Texas sun and rain for 50 years.

The two brothers that run that place are a piece of work. Twice I agreed on a price for parts with one of them only to have the other brother refuse to sell it to me for that price.

Why are aftermarket sheet metal panels out of the question? All Metal Direct makes virtually everything you could need for resonable prices.
