Here is my 63. Not really pt yet, but this summer (when I am hopefully done with the camaro) it will become a P-T truck. And also in the shot is my Typhoon....doesn't really like the turns, but man-oh-man does it love the straights!

74 c10, 20x15's rear 9 inch 4 link, 18x12's front c4 vette ifs, big block, currently th400 planning on a paddle shifted auto in the future. Kore brake in the rear, thats about where its at. customer is saving to finish it up

except for the wheels its a real budget build- THe customer is trying to do a lot of the work himself and we fill in the gaps like chassis and tin work.

I am very interestet in that MT Sportsman as well as they are really have a wide surface to the road.
Some people say they are more show than go and that they wont hook.

Is that true? What is your experience and how can a tires that wide suck when it comes to traction even if it is not a super soft compound???

We will be starting a 68 Chevy SWB Pro Tour Build to debut in 2012. Rendering will come soon from Carter Hickman and the Truck will feature Lingenfelter Power, Ridetech, One Off Pin Drive Knock Off Wheels, and a few surprises. Most importantly the parts we will use will be available to anyone...

Stay Tuned!

Hey thanks! But funny enough I'm looking at getting a set of Camaro rims like yours! Do you know what the specs of your wheels are? Width, and back spacing specifically. I already have a set of 2" wheel adapters to adapt 4.75" bolt pattern wheels.

My DD. Not really PT just low. I did put the big Blazer front sway bar on it. It rode rough as crap and the tires would smack the inner fenders making it squirrely so I put it back to stock height.

Its dropped 2" from the original factory suspension. So 3-4" lower than the standard suspension models. It's got 12 way adjustable QA1 coilovers up front w/ 12 way adjustable shocks out back.

I haven't touched it since i bought my duster, but i need to spring for the high clearance tranny crossmember and buy/build some bump stops so i have better travel up front. As well as have a shop put in some baffles whenever i get around to replacing my seeping front main seal.

"Theoretical" plans include either an LS swap or a beefed up 3.7 5cylinder when its 3.5 pops.

I wouldn't consider an s-series truck modern in any way other than the build date. I think it was Marcus at SC&C that said they were just G-bodies with a really big trunk.

Mine; 93 ranger lowered, 09 mustang wheels, 2/4, added rear dsics, rear sway bar, trac lok. Dropped beams, 12" rotors and twin piston calipers waiting. What I would call a sport truck, but going in the pro touring direction.

Not 100% pro touring in that I hate big wheels on these trucks but I'm still proud of it :) I have it partially apart again, fixing some minor issues and probably going to soup the engine up a little w/ some TFs 195cc CNC heads and a supercharger (still have to finish some other projects first)

I know those tires suck but it's hard to get decent tires here, they only sell these. With all the weight up front and this truck not having a brake proportioning to the rear dependant on load makes it a suicide machine in the wet :)

Twin,
That is sick. Specs on motor? I like the stance, old school and mean as hell. Nice.

Twin_Turbo
10-23-2011, 04:17 PM
Just a simple forged 355, nothing spectacular. I still have some supercharger stuff, twin intercoolers and a blowthrough carb box lying around, as well as some TFS Kenny Duttweiler series 195cc heads, I may slap those on to pep it up a little. Will need a new tranny too since the little 355 smoked the 2nd gear on the TH400

Tig
10-23-2011, 04:32 PM
Nice combo. That is going to be fun when you're done. What kind of SCer and blow through are you using?
Do you have a build thread?

Twin_Turbo
10-23-2011, 04:38 PM
No build thread, haven't started on it yet. Gotta fixsome rust issues in the firewall 1st (from brake booster flexing, seams opened now I hate rust).still have to finish my SCed IROC & trans am 1st (have build thread on the TA), then I'll get working on the truck. SC will probably be a P600B since that's what I have the brackets and all for. Intercoolers are small 2.5" in and outlets, an F body dual system from the 4th gen P600B kit. I used to put quite a bit of miles on the truck, kinda sad it's down now.

Tig

Thanks Tig! I am installing a KP components 4-link modified to work with coilovers, an extra long adjustable panhard bar, new C-section, and chassis connectors. It has required a lot of fab work! I have also been stripping and painting everything I touch (very time consuming!). I have been taking pics of the build up and haven't had time to post them..... Every free moment I'm in the garage! I will try to post them over Christmas break. I'll start a build thread on FSC ;)

Very cool setup. Just checked out your thread a little bit. That's an interesting way to solve the issue of how to mate the T56 to the transfer case. Glad to see it can be done with some ingenuity (and a big checkbook)!

I had all the parts a few years back to do the same thing, but gave up on the idea due to slightly changing direction and wanting to keep the weight down. Of course mine was a 2wd to begin with...

Anyway, that's a sweet ride. Would love to get a ride in it someday!!!

I guess my DD 72 Elco can be included in this thread.
Mods consist of UMI upper A arms with tall ball joints, boxed in lowers, UMI 1 1/4 front sway, 1' rear, LS1 4 wheel disc, boxed lower rear arms, Eibach springs, Jeep steering box upgrade, Boss 338's with nitto new gen tread. Got a mild 350 punched .040 over with some internal goodies, auto trans and crappy 10 bolt.
Future mods: UMI rear upper arms and frame to rear brace, rebuild rear, 200 4r trans, type II power steering pump, better shocks.
This truck has seen rain, snow, sleet and the occassional close call (last pic).

My current project. An 81 F150 with 63k miles. It's nothing special and still has a TON of work needed. The rear is coming down two inches. The front has been lowered an inch with NOS 1st gen Ford Lightning springs. It has Edelbrock shocks and swaybars front and rear. The poor truck didn't have any swaybars from the factory. The 302 is getting a mild cam, gt40p heads, shorty headers, weiand intake and holley 4160. The tires are nitto 420 275/60/17. The brakes are going to stay stock for now, I would like to put disks on the rear if funds allow. I'm going to remove most of the side trim and black everything out, along with running smaller, smoother bumpers. The plan is for it to be a fun daily driver for a while then get body/paint and more mods after my Trans Am is done.

Here is my previous truck. It was lowered with hotchkis coils and leafs. It had doetsch tech shocks, bigger sway bar up front and an added sway bar in the rear. it had eradispeed rotors and hawk pads, the wheels were 18s/20s. For what it was, it handled very well.

So, my daily driver truck is probably not going to last much longer. I am kicking around the idea of an older pre-smog (1973) full size Chevy truck. I would like to throw a mild pro-touring treatment at it with a small block. Add AC and power windows and make it my new daily driver. Does anyone know what year is the best bang for the buck? Pre '73 and, lowest cost in the end factoring in aftermarket support.

'67-'72 Chevy Trucks are the best around for a PT treatment... Here is a great forum that somehow always seems to pop up whenever I'm doing research on LS swap stuff: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/index.php

Some of the older Ford trucks (50's era) LOOK the best, however, they will probably be difficult/expensive to turn into a PT runner. But you said "best bang for the buck" so I'd go with the above.

Put my rear sway bar on, buffed it and out for a country drive. Much improved, now time for some LS1 brakes.

Thought I would post a few pics of the '95 Sierra I built back in '00 & '01.
I designed and built the all steel bumper, Modified the 'glass hood and rear roll pan, filled the gate handle, stake pockets and 3rd brake light and did a lot of little things no one notices.

Hi there guys. I guess I should intro myself with this post. Been lurking just over a year trying to get ideas and keep coming back to the threads on Elkys by Mr Anderson and Yelcamino. I have owned this 67 Elky since I was 14(now 45). Dad bought it when I was 5, it's been with us ever since. I am the 3rd owner and my kids are fighting over which of them will inherit it. LOL
I restomodded it over 20 years ago, rebuilt the 283/PG combo, new interior and paint a few mods along the way with 72 chevelle disc's on the front and stock drums out back. And an H~O Racing suspension under her. She handles quite well, but stiff. Well that will all change in the next few years as money and other projects allow( I have my Dad's 57 tbird, and am wanting to build a Cobra:/).

So here she is how she looked when I was 16,
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
First car show in 1996
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
a couple weeks later
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
fast forward to present day, she's a little dirty just replaced booster and master last weekend. Wanted to get her out and wash and drive her but it's raining. Oh well..
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

I hope you all enjoy looking at her. I have several plans for her in the future. Sheet metal mods trim removal, shaved door handles, Wilwood or Baer brakes, coilover conversion, 383 stroker with fuel injection, TKO600 OR T56, etc... etc....

Enjoy, Chris Phelps

More pics please :)

Thanks! No build thread on this one, found it in a collection in Alabama, but it was built up in Washington state. The owner was thinning his collection, timing was right and a road trip from AL to TX put the truck in my garage.

The body is all stock, so yes there are 2 solid axles and 4 leaf springs on it, and yes it is a mid engine truck! Fun to drive and very practical. Most people recall the Econoline vans, but there were pickups too, built from 61 to 67. This one has a revamped drivetrain to a Ford 9", disc brakes up front and a refurbished interior.
Here's a few more pics:

I looked all over but couldn't find any, I bet it's a mean little truck. I wish I had the space and extra cash right now.

Truck is bad ass. Not a big fan of the 80's lawn mower louvers on the tailgate, however.

Oh, and I see a nice blue Mustang in the background!

Here's my attempt at a PT truck.
1991 2dr 4runner
2wd truck frame and custom QA1 coil overs and 4 link rear end.
7mgte engine just south of 400whp and 450tq :)

Just need some bigger/widder wheels and tires but its getting there slowly but surely. Maybe I'll start a build thread.....

I'm in the beginning stages of mine. It's a 1950 Willys Pick up. It's going to be a low dollar build. It's sitting on an S10 frame, will be getting a 9" with a three link in the rear, Ford 400 and C6 to power it. 15 x 10 steelies on all 4 corners. No fenders and the top is getting chopped. I'm going for a street fighter / vintage circle track feel.

here's mine not really PT but its getting there. 1969 chevy c20 sbc 350 built and cammed roughly 350 hp and just under 400 fpt. 4.56 gears with 4 speed manual. working on boxing in the frame and trailing arms. It has LOTS of rust induced weight reduction that will be fixed as soon as I can get the parts in. It no longer has the moon discs on it though just didnt fit with the over all theme and not exactly PT.

Tig, thanks it's just a V6 auto, 4/5 drop, custom mini notch Bilstien shocks, 17s and some ad ons. Plus a nice little stereo, time to upgrade it though. It's clean, has a few little issues but it's ok. I'd rather have my s10 back but it is more family stable.
