Im building a 1966 Nova and the color of the car is going to be white. As for the underside of the car, where the floor is dented up quite a bit in a few spots, what is the best option for painting or coating the underside? Is there a DIY bedliner type coating that comes in white? Or is the best way to just paint it with same paint as the body?
I dont know how much of a nightmare it will be to have an underarriage in white but I really would like to keep it white to give it that factory feel and look. Does anyone have any experience with a car that has a white underside?

I used Black Rhino Linings on the underside and interior of my car. Comes in a bunch of colors but not white. Heres the chart:

I would recommend using UPOL raptor liner. Comes in black and you can paint over it in white but I would strongly recommend going with black as the white would be a nightmare to keep clean

I used the UPOL Raptor liner in black as well. On their literature they list a tintable liner so you might be able to do a shade of gray. Not sure about white.

Luke,
I thought about that with the white. Although it would give the car an awesome look when you do get down to look at it, man would it be a nightmare to keep clean. I do plan to drive the car and not be trailered everywhere. Plus I think long term I will be happier with the black.
Plus the liner option I think is going to alleviate alot of work in finishing the bottom side of the car. Some work has to be done but it sure saves alot of time in making the bottom side of the car perfect.

There was a product used on the second chance silverado on the show trucks where Kevin used a bedliner and added paint. I cannot remember what it is called. Do a search on their website and you may be able to find the company

Marc, I think you would be alot happier with the Raptor liner. It's a satin black and has a super nice finish. It does reduce the cost as you don't need to do quite as much detailing to the underside. We only paint the underside on cars that customers want to put mirrors on the underside. We use the Raptor liner on all the cars we do that will be driven.
Btw how's the nova coming along?

I guessing you would put a couple coats of POR15 first??

Luke,
Thanks again for the info. Im definately leaning to the rhino lining or heavy duty coating on the underside. The car will have some gray tones in the paint so I think Im going to do a black and gray underside, between the suspension and the underside itself. As I said and I believe you mentioned that I do plan on driving this car so that underside is going to be a nightmare to clean as it is. Darker colors and good durability will go a long way. Not to mention the prep work involved as you stated.
The car itself is coming along awesome. Not sure if you have seen my project updates thread, but my car is currently at Detroit Speed. I was very lucky and was able to work out a mutually satisifying agreement with Kyle at DSE. The car looks amazing and although I have never physically built a car from the ground up on my own, I have helped with my brothers race car. That being said I dont think my car would have come out to the quality and standard that the boys at DSE have made it to be. Unfortuanetely I dont have the dough to finish the car there, so I am flying out to NC in about 2 weeks to go check it out and meet everyone at the shop. By early February the car should be home here in California where I will finish the car. Between the boards here and my brother, who is very talented (had the cover car and Chevy High Performance car of 2008) I should be able to finish the car. I have a rendering but Im holding off a bit to post it. Im in a funding low right now so when the car comes home it will sit for a bit but nevertheless it will get finished. Im really trying to find out how to work some manufacturer deals... Dreamin I know... but really that is the only way for now that I am going to be able to build the car that I want. All in good time though.
Check the car out on DSE's website. The link is below. The wheel on the car is not my wheel but actually Dale Jr.s wheel off of his 67 camaro. Let me know what you think. Im super happy with everything at this point.
