Looking for a tilt column to use in 64-65 chevelle , not worried about originalty, just fit and function, closer to the dash would be nice too. Anyone use any that do not cost an arm and a leg, or require 200 bucks worth of extras to make there direct fit one's work? Thanks for any ideas.

I chose a Flaming River tilt column (and steering box, and steering wheel). Fits and works great- not cheap though. Its in my '67, but they have '64-'65 stuff too. The hot rod-style solid/thin steering shaft offers more clearance (for headers etc.) and uses top-notch U-joints- no ragjoints. I like it. I got the paintable (non-polsihed) unit but haven't painted it yet. The natural (satin) finish is perfectly acceptable, but I still want to paint it to match the interior eventually.

I second the Flaming River that Scott has. I put one in my 67 Convertible and it fits nice, I am happy with it but like he said it isn't cheap by any means. But in my opinion it was worth it.
