I'm in the proces of rebuilding the hinges on my 67 'Bird. I ordered a kit from NPD but am not happy with it. The 67 kit also fits 70-81 and they said to "trim" my pins to fit. I noticed other kits have e-clips to lock down the bottom of the pin which these do not. So I went to Ricks/Eckler's to order a set and they list 67-69 as all the same. But other catalogs list 67 different from 68/9. So what's the real scoop on hinges for my 67??? who has the best kit and should it come with clips to lock the bottom of the pin???

This is only a guess as I don't know for a fact, but I believe the rollers are different on the 67's than on the 68-69, but the pins are the same on 67-69.

Also, there should be clip, unless the pins you have are knurled and are meant to pressed into the hinge. If they are knurled, then clips arent needed as the pins is a press fit. But, I believe even press fit ones have clips on them too. Or, some have tabs at the bottom that get pryed open to prevent the pins from working their way up.

If it were me and the pins didn't have anything to keep them from backing out, I'd probably put a tack weld on the side of it. But in all honesty, they probably would never work their way out anyway. But it sure would be a mess if they ever did.

Again, Im not 100 percent sure on any of this, its only kind of a guess. At the very least, this will get your post a bump in case someone knows for sure 100 percent.

67 hinges are different than 68-9 hinges and are you talking about the top or bottom hinge? 67 has 3 bolts others have 4.

Rebuild the top and buy a new one from someone who has a good aftermarket 3 bolt hinge.

It was useless to try to rebuild the old bottom one with the rebuild kit they sell.

Just to close this out. I ended up getting a set from Rick's/Eckler's. Right length, no cutting, no clips even though the pins had cuts in them for e-clips. Fit well. Nice to have good solid hinges and detent rollers on the doors again.
