Little off-topic - looking to do ECU update on mostly stock 5.3 Tahoe

hey guys,

At the opposite end of Pro-touring is my newly acquired 2003 5.3 Z71 Tahoe.

I wanted to do the normal air-intake, exhaust (keep stock manifolds) and ECU upgrades to it, but the ECU options seem endless.

Anyone have any direct experience on affordable ECU upgrades? I was told by the Gale Banks shop that the 2003 had a unique ECU that most ECU programmers cannot update.
A friend, (not a real gear-head) has read good things about Waitforme Performance and Westers.
I think I've read good things about the W4me Perf. on this site too.

Opinions wanted. :)

If you just want a generic increased performance tune Wait4me can probably do it OK, he did my swap. If you're just doing cold air intake etc, it's probably not worth the cost though.
But if you're going to change cams, headers, etc... you'll be much better off to find someone local that can make changes after you drive it.
