Hey I was wondering what you guys think? I am running twin 57mms on a sbc 355 mild cam. I have hood clearnaces now on my 67 camaro because I am running a stock SS hood. I only have about 3" max clearance for carb hat. I have decided to switch my Weiand 7546 intake to a torker 2 and go to a CSU or EV hat. I have read and read and I feel I will gain more this way. Since my motor is mild I don't think the intake is as important as to whats on top of the carb. What do you guys think?

Totally agreed. I have a CSU hat and it works fine, although I'd like to try a EV hat sometime to see the difference. Will it still fit under the hood?
I had a thin turbonetics hat on mine first and it worked fine. Then I changed the intake to a taller super victor and changed the angle of the intercooler tube to clear the hood. Well after that it would never get boost again! It just fell on it's face when the secondaries opened. After changing the ignition box, coil, distributor, carb, fuel pump, regulator, plugs and wires with no difference I pulled the hood and "straightened" the charge tube and it ripped again! I guess it made a crazy turbulence inside the hat and the air wouldn't pull fuel when the secondaries opened.
So, I would definately vote for the good hat!

I measure intakes last night and it looks like I will gain every bit of 1.5 inches probably closer to 2. I have an EV hat on the way and I also have a 5" Brute flow with a 4" inlet. The Brute flow is suppose to be a really good hat. After speaking with Kevin at CSU he told me that changing from my short turbonetics hat would make probably 30 to 45 more hp. He said with the the turbonetics hat that my AFR would never be any good and that the way that one is designed that it would reak havoc on my carb and engine. I am really hoping I can squeeze the 5" hat in, if not I might try to shave some off of it to get it to fit. I know the EV hat will its a little less than 4". As you see my charge pipe comes in from the side. Since you seem to be a bit more experienced than I what do you think? Do you think it is fine?43168

Do you have any experiences with the Weiand 7546 intakes? It is hard to tell on the car, but I think it is quite a bit taller than the torker 2. I think the torker 2 is just a littler higher than a stock intake.

I actually have never had a weiand single plane, so I can't help you there.
But that is the hat that I had before and it worked fine till I changed the angle, then not at all!! Actually kind of pissed me off because the Chevy Hi Performance photographer rode with me on one leg of the Power Tour then and I couldn't rip it to "show him" that it ran! LOL
On my CSU hat, we ended up welding about a 1/2" on the back side to bring the front to point down. And I don't think that it affected it in any negative way. It looks like yours should be fine....but I don't have any experience with a carb blowing from the side, but I have seen some drag cars that way.
Keep us updated!

It builds boost fine. The reason I am changing is Kevin and a few others have said I with see a hp increase and that I will get a much better AFR reading. I should have it going again soon and Ill post back and let you know. Did you see any gains in power by switching hats? I know you had to redo your pipe, but could you tell that it ran smoother or anything?

I changed the heads and intake, which is why I had to change the charge pipe. So, I'm not sure what made it run better. I would assume the heads and intake! But not really a fair comparison.
I'm anxious to hear how it helps!
