:) Well, the Vette is finally home. I have not got a chance to do any more then drive it around the block and wipe it down so far. I will post some driving impressions after I get a few miles on it. So far I am very happy. I am sure there will be some bugs to work out after driving but this project is getting real close to done now. Only took 2 years 5 months!!

Really cool ride, although I'd be a little worried about being impaled on the shifter ball in the event of a wreck, awsome car either way.

This is the car from Boyd's shop correct? It's good to see you've got it back at your place. The interior is just incredible. I hope you get some time to really enjoy your car here soon.

Looks incredible, Shaun. I look forward to seeing it in person sometime soon. Have you thought about taking it to cruising Grand on Friday nights? I have been meaning to take the Camaro there, it'd be fun to meet up there some evening.

By the way, I second the comment on the interior, looks amazing.

Congrats

I have been wondering where this project was completion wise? As we have come to find out, even when the car makes the show and is given the impression its complete, there must be a lot of odds and ends to attend to. In newer episodes you could see the car in one of the stall areas.

This is one Bad Ass Car......... It will be interesting to see if you can get everything to work all at the same time. AC, turbos etc. I love the color combo. Does it have a stereo?

Do you believe you will be touring (car shows) this vette at all?
It would be a standout at Detroit Autorama.

Thanks for all the compliments. I am very happy with how the car came out.
Roger- no it does not have a stereo. I figured the muffler-less exhaust was all the sweet music I needed!!
I think I will have time to take it for a drive Wed afternoon. I will let you all know how it goes.
Brian- Their stupid show is just that "stupid"! They let the producers and editors do what ever they want with the direction of the show which is a shame. They really do produce some of the finest cars in the world.

How did you get the M/T radials already.....we needed a set and M/T radials for James Browns Willys! We ended up with a 355/30/R20!!!
Where did you get them and how.....?

TwinSting
06-02-2005, 07:53 PM
Travis- The M/T Radials are not available yet and I believe I have the only set currently on a car. I helped design and test the tires with guys at M/T and my company is currently taking orders for the tires which will ship by the end of the month. Let me know if I can get you something.

If all goes well it will be at SEMA this year! I will e-mail you the rendering Rocketman

If we had only talked about this sooner....how do the tires handle??

TwinSting
06-03-2005, 02:04 PM
Travis- The tires handle nice but I have not pushed on them yet. The ones that are around right now are production samples and are not exactly the kind you want to go pushing. They are in production right now and I should have a bunch in the next week or two. Then I will go out and abuse them!! The test guys said they were real nice though. I hope that rocketman is nice to the ones he has as they are not really production units either! I have a set going on the Vette too.

I checked out a prototype tire at the Summit show yesterday - sweet! One question. The brochure lists a 33x22.00R20 tire that requires a 16-18-inch wide rim. Are there any companies currently developing this rim?

Wow!

TwinSting
06-05-2005, 07:08 PM
Todd- We have something in the works for the wheels that size. Boyd can also make a set of 2 piece wheels by welding 2 hoops. Call Chris at Boyds and he will help. Tell him I said to call him. I will keep you posted on the other wheel option I am working out.

I have a set of bodys that are 17 X 12 and they were $800 a piece and took about 7 months for me to get them. They did do a good job of it thought you have to look very closely to see where they are welded.

Thanks everyone for the info. Since the ballpark figures are already posted here I'll let Chris @ Boyd's get his work done until I make up my mind. I don't think the cost is too bad, considering the end result.

TwinSting, I'll be looking forward to seeing what you have cooking (fat rims)... :icon996:

I think those tires are just more than I can resist :naughty: I am so glad I kept my "ultimate" project on paper because the products and technologies coming out now are going to allow me to do what I really want to do. I like where hotrodding is going in the 21st century.

Travis,I'm unable to find anyone selling that size. Where did you purchase them?

toddshotrods
06-06-2005, 10:15 PM
Here's the sizes they have listed in the brochure:

24X5.00R15
26X6.00R15
26X8.00R15
26X10.00R15
26X12.00R15
29X18.00R15
31X18.00R15
33X22.00R15
24X5.00R18
26X6.00R18
26X8.00R18
26X10.00R18
26X12.00R18
29X18.00R18
31X18.00R18
33X22.00R18
29X18.00R20
31X18.00R20
33X22.00R20

The 33's are actually 32-inches tall, all the others are the specified height (except 31X18.00R20, which is 31.1"
