I thought a few of you might enjoy this thread in our club forums.

We had a club member who dropped out after a few years. I heard it was because of his sons, both of whom had Muscular Dystrophy. This past year he lost his oldest son to the disease. After the funeral, the youngest mentioned to his dad that he should get busy on that 1968 GTO in the garage so he could go cruising with him.

Word got back to me so we put our heads together at a club meeting. Long story short, we didn't have the resources to restore the car for him but we did have the ability to build an engine. We have an annual indoor car show here in January. Luckily we have one member who is an experienced engine builder and has his own machine shop. His help has been vital to our success. So we've scheduled a live engine build during the indoor show to help raise awareness and hopefully find some additional funds to help them get the car restored.

Anyway, here's a link to what's going on:

Thanks, guys. I posted that because I'm awfully proud of this group of people. They go out of their way to make sure they help their fellow man. The car stuff is just the bonus!

Here's the show where we will be doing it:

We picked up a donation from Matt at RediRad. He heard about our cause and is sending one of his units to adapt your MP3 or other type player to classic radio's using an AUX plug. Nice guy to boot. I won't post a link to his site since I think that violates some forum rules but you can google RediRad if you're interested.

One of our club members came up with a Holley Street Avenger 770 carb to top off the motor today. I can't thank all these people enough for their help.

If its a Pontiac motor your rebuilding let me know, I might have some interesting parts that have been laying around for ever that I dont know if they will find a home with anything we are building. Too bad you didnt do this about 6 months ago as we sold some really nice RA3 stuff cheap cheap

Thanks, guys. We're all pretty excited about being able to help. I'm not done yet. I have decided it's time for us to make a road trip to his house next for the break in of the motor. Then we can assess the rest of the car. There's more work to be done. Fixing the paint and body might be the next step.
