Can-Am racers will be featured at the 2011 Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has announced the race groups for the 2011 Rolex Monterey Motorsports (http://www.autoweek.com/article/20101213/MOTORSPORTS/101219978#) Reunion. The Reunion will feature the new-for-2011 1969-74 Can-Am race group.
“We are keeping the event fresh with new race groups such as Can-Am,” said Gill Campbell, CEO and general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “It was a free-wheeling era in motorsports when all the rules were pushed to the extreme.”
The Can-Am series, as longtime motorsports aficionados know, featured minimal regulations and did not restrict engine size or aerodynamics, leading to the development of some of the baddest race cars (http://www.autoweek.com/article/20101213/MOTORSPORTS/101219978#) the planet has ever known. The series raced at Laguna Seca between 1966 and 1973, with McLarens winning four races.
In addition to the Can-Am group, the Reunion will again feature a group for 1966-183 Formula One cars (http://www.autoweek.com/article/20101213/MOTORSPORTS/101219978#), which has been an event highlight and will include Mario Andretti’s Lotus 79, which he drove to the 1978 world championship. The F1 lineup will also include Jackie Stewart's Tyrrell 006, which he drove to his third world championship, and the Lotus 49B driven by Jim Clark and Graham Hill.
Entry forms are available at www.mazdaraceway.com (http://www.mazdaraceway.com/) and must be submitted by Jan. 31, 2011.

Wow , cool !
Can-Am cars are my favorite , followed closely by Trans-Am cars.
This should be a great event.

Looks like a different grouping than I'd seen in the past. They are only running Can-Am cars from 69 to 74, no earlier cars. Looks like I could run the Lola in the 1960 - 68 USRRC class which would give me a better chance at winning since my Lola is a 1965. I may have to buy treaded tires though!

I've always dreamed of attending a Can-Am Reunion .
I could kick myself for not attending the 2010 Can-Am Reunion at Road America during the Kohler International Challenge .
They had a huge Mark Donohue Reunion too !!!
I should double-kick myself !

Anyone care to caravan up this year? My health is finally getting to the point I believe I can make this event and I'd like to drive the camaro or mini.

Suprised to see TA cars in back-to-back years @ Laguna...in the past it's been every other year for the TA cars.
Good to see that SCRAMP is having a positive effect since taking this event over from Steve Earle.
