This guy got his 1973 camaro back after it was stolen 23 years ago. It is supposed to be in good condition and ride and drive good. He never got any insurance money so its his.

I bet you its worth a lot more now that in 1987.

Cool story.

There are idiots who post on internet stories. Good grief.

Too bad there were no more pics of the car.
Glad to see the cops actually found the owner.
A good reminder to check into additional security layers for our rides.

Yes! The people who usually post comments below these internet news stories are usually complete idiots! That's why I don't usually read them. :)

Wow, this comment cracked me up:

"I was watching some older guy proudly trying to park his 57 Chevy in a tight space. I actually felt badly for the guy to be working so hard to engage in dinosaur worship."

I'm sure the guy with the '57 Chevy (btw, I'm sure it was probably something totally different, everyone thinks everything is a '57 Chevy or a Mustang) feels bad for the guy commenting driving a Prius. Felt bad for him, lol. Because car guys are mentally ill?

Maybe we are... :P

We are, the proof is in the fact that we know we're not. I'm ok with it either way, I love my babies.

And its got those sweet shackle extension things to lift up the car so you can get tires that stick out 3 inches past the wheelwell!

All joking aside though, its awesome the guy gets his car back.

Very cool story. I wonder if he (Ruiz) decided to keep it or sell it to one of the officers? Hmmm....could be a potential project here on the PT forum...

I think he wanted to throw it on Ebay. I know what he was offered and it was more than it was worth, he crazy for not taking it.

Just for arguments sake what if insurance paid him $2K 27 years ago for the loss. Could he pay back $2K to get a car that was worth much more or would the insurance company technically own it and sell it for whatever they could get?

I hope the guy who bought it wasn't out a lot of money, or that he gets his money back...

Yeah I always wondered about that too.

A friend's car was stolen. Then 3 years later it was found. He tried to get it back, But the insurance company sold it a salvage sale. Imagine being at 1 of them auctions and seeing a near mint 67 RS roll through. I bet the bidding when crazy.

A friend of mine bought a clean 71 Chevelle LS5 number matching with a M22 at one of those auctions for $14,000. Hell of a cool car.
