How long can I store ethanol in my garage before it goes bad? I would keep the ethanol in one of those red fuel jugs...

Long term ethanol can desolve a lot of plastics as well as fiberglass so you are better off with a metal storage can. The can needs to be full and the top sealed tight as alchohol is hygroscopic ie it tends to absorbs water.
