Hey everyone, I joined this site long ago just so I could check out everything and start the learning process. I finally sold my 2000 Trans Am this fall and it's time to focus on planning my 1976 Trans Am build. I have had the car since I was 15 (now 20) and it has sat in my parents garage ever since. It has the orig #'s matching 455-4speed so I am really torn about what to do with her since this was the final year of the 455's in the Trans Am. This is also the same year and engine combo my dad had back in his day.

I look forward to getting more ideas from the site and help in the planning process. Since I am getting married this fall funds are not available right away but I want to do this right the first time.

I have contemplated pulling the 455 aside since it is orig and just keeping it safe, and putting a LS motor in the car, but the old school pontiac grunt is hard to pass up. I want to build a car that I can tear up back roads on, take to shows, do some auto-x, and would love to do a few road course track days a year too.. not to mention a few to the strip as we have a nice one not too far away. There are so many options these days for suspension, honestly, I don't even know where to begin! Oh and if there are any photoshop guys around, I would love to see a 76' TA with a Cyber Gray type color and black accents and wheels.

Figured you would all like some pics to start things off.

and a pic of my sold 2000.. miss that car a lot, but hopefully planning this thing can help ease my angst.

Thanks Van B, nice to see a few Wisconsin guys on here, sweet looking Camaro you have there and impressive HP numbers. Did you get much snow down that way? The drifts are crazy high around here.

Less than 2 inches of snow here, and most of it blew away.

Welcome! Nice car! If it was mine, I'd keep the stock engine/trans, but beef them up significantly; and do as much as you could with bolt-on suspension. Once you start cutting/welding, the sky's the limit...

Thanks! One reason I was looking at going a different route with the trans would be to have overdrive for when I'm just out cruising. Thanks for the props on the car, once I get more organized with it, I'll start a build thread.

Thanks for the welcome CruizinKev. Love the old Monte project!
