Today my wife said something that got me laughing pretty hard. It made me wonder if your significant others make funny statements that would be bizaare in an ordinary world, but makes perfect sense in our automotive worlds....

I had just finished seperating my transmission from my engine and was putting it in my truck to take it to the shop when my wife looks at it and says, "I'm probably one of the few wifes in America that would be okay with you telling me you had a tranny riding shotgun in car."

This combined with the other off the wall statements like, "There is one car taking up a two car garage, a Gas tank on my dining room table and a brake system in the kitchen....really whats next?"

"How many cars is enough?"

"Am I ever going to get to park in the garage?"

"What do you mean there is no room in the garage for the lawn mower?"

"I don't care how fast it's going to be, right now its zero to sixy in never."

To me, these are things that are probably not uttered in many households, but to the automotive restorer it is not only a regular conversation, but makes perfect sense...

After I blew the head gasket for the third time (seems like 22 lbs of boost will do that everytime) and explained the whole thing to her, she said something to the effect of:

"With all that banging, blowing, sucking, squishing, maybe you've just worn your head out."

I snickered but kept it to myself because I knew I had to ask for a bit of car time that weekend.

.....

I really hate it when my head gets worn out.

Out of all the stories I hear about nagging wives, it's good to have one that understands. Before kids, she used to actually help out in the garage.

One of the neighborhood wives said, "why does he have all those cars, he doesn't go anywhere!" I said, (she's a stay at home mom) ask her why she has all those shoes and purses. :P

Don't get me wrong...she picks on me, but it is always in fun. We both have our obsessions-for me it's cars, for her it is puppys.

She has helped me out in the garage, and says she wants to work on her truck when its time is due, but oil and wrenches are not her thing.
