Ok im back in the maverick world..I sold the Datsun 510 in favour of a V8 project , i just could not bring myself to put a V8 in the Datto ...anyway on to the new build>> ,I am picking up an early small bumper maverick next week..that used to be an SCCA road race car back in the day running around the East coast at tracks like Bridgehampton and Lime Rock ..its a 6 cylinder 4 speed car ..with dics brakes ,roll cage , road race suspension all old style ..etc . It will become my street track toy ,at first i will check out the condition of the suspension and roll cage specs to see where am at ..the 6 will be going and a late model 302 roller motor with carb and T5 behind it, big road race rubber and wheels so i can tear up the local HPDE courses..Pics will follow ...cant wait

That is an awesome car! If it were me, I would leave it exactly that way and just get it ready to race then clean up the appearance later. I like its just out of the barn look

Great start! I was driving behind a 1st gen Maverick the other day, first one I've seen in a very long time. Had the rear panel painted black, 5 spoke factory sport wheels, but no grabber hood and smoke coming from the single exhaust. I followed it for a while before having to turn and thought it would make a killer pro-tour ride.
If you plan on racing it a lot painting it green again and doing a modern "47" look would be fun. That way you'd be maintaining it's history and continuing with the legend, just an idea...

This is the whell and tire size i will eventually shoot for ..in CCW`s I think ..17 x 11 with either Nitto NT01`s or R888 in 315`s ..this is the size i was going to use on my other Mav

you could make it work without mini tubbing but you would have to pull the fender out..if you mini tub you just have to move the inner wheelhouse back into the frame rail as well as the leaf spring (which you dont have any more) and it would work..I have a pic showing where it hits before i made it work ...ill dig it up and post it..Barry ..
