View Full Version : Loggin in to forum problems?

This morning, I have had to log in repeatedly and only on the third or fourth time does it "take."
Everytime I log in it goes to the, "Thank you for loggin in, absintheisfun." screen but then the log in boxes remain empty when it returns.
Sometimes when I click on the Forum box, it shows me as logged in, sometimes not. I thought it might be my browser's cookie settings, but it was only this morning that I have had trouble...never before. Anything going on?

Me too.
I tried to login 3 or 4 times .
Then I completely closed my browser , and opened it back up and it worked .

What browser are you using?

I have had issues too, thought the site was down for a couple days. Once I typed the name of the site into the address bar and it took me to a vbulletin screen which was a white background with blue accents. Came up with a message stating I had accidentally found the build screen for PT and requested I try loggin in again.
I just now got the white screen which had originally prompted me to think the site was down... I deleted that https://www.pro-touring.com/forum bookmark and tried https://www.pro-touring.com and it works. WTF?
Just thought I would pass it on, thanks for the great site nonetheless.
I use Google Chrome most.

Last week we moved the site software up a directory. So, old bookmarks no longer work.

I'm currently browsing on my iPhone and have been asked to reauthenticate a few times so far.

Larry, I have also had problems the last few days. Multiple tries before getting in. I got your email today, and still had problems.
Good luck, just thought I would let you know.

odd things lately-when I go to pro-touring.com, it shows the log in box at the top but it is blank (as if I wasn't logged in) but when I click on the forum link without loggin in, it goes to the forum and shows that I am logged in, but no topics are showing as "new."
cooky, but I attribute it to growing pains! :)

I still have the same problem. I am not logged in on pt.com but in the forums I am logged in. So it doesnt really affect me.
I'm using chrome, haven't had any problems other than the URL being changed.

Well, it appears as if the login problem is fixed, but for some reason now when I go to the forums, any posting in 10 days is showing as new and unread...?

I changed how the server decides to mark threads as read. I want to give it a day or two to work itself out before I bail back to the old style.

I just happened to see the poll. I haven't had the issue with either Firefox 3.6, IE 7 or 8 on windows 7, but have seen the issue on IE 8 on XP. Firefox 3.6 and Safari on Mac OS 10.6 seem fine, however did have one hiccup on my iPhone with Safari on iOS 4.1.

I just found you can also click on Forum Actions at the top of the page, then Mark Forums Read.

So, it looks like the login problems may be fixed. I will close this thread for now. Feel free to start a new one if needed.
I am going around closing threads regarding bugs as I solve them.
