3 piece or 1 piece

3 or one piece spoiler on 70-73 Camaro? what do you guys think about that?
Is the downforce affecting the handling a lot more with the 3 piece?
The one I had back in 1989-92 was the 3 piece but i kinda like the look of the one piece better.

I owned a '73 years back and loved the 3 piece. I thought about a one piece for a while since there wasn't so many but "3" all the way.

If you're running the big factory chin spoiler and any kind of raised hood, then the 3pc is the only one that'll look right. Flat hood or no front chin spoiler and the Z28 1 pc will look better. It's all about matching the style of the rest of the car.

My 73 had the 3-piece on originally but I like the looks of the 1-piece better. I have a cowl hood and lower front spoiler too, I don't think it looks out of place.

You also have a readily available 3rd choice to screw up your decision.

The 2nd generation Firebird rear spoiler. Close to the Camaro in appearance but the corners/ends are different. Depending on the other styling choices on the car this "may" be the best choice.

I'm going through this same decision process myself. I've looked at just about all the pics I can get my hands on trying to decide. I've owned only the 3-piece setups, but I've seen plenty of the 1-piece as well...

My preference is the 3-piece, and I'll probably stick with it...

What other body mods would you guys think of with a 70-73?
I think the exhaust pipes sticking out the back always look out of place.They remind me off the handles on a wheelbarrow.
And other door handles maybe?
Any other ideas?

no spoliers front or rear and cowl hood, rs front end. wish i had the pic of the car im thinking of. very clean look, and unusual to see one without a spoiler. car was dark green with a lighter green pearl, silver ss stripes.
come to think of it i think i have some pics of my 71 drag car with spolier removed. if i can find them ill post

If it is just the looks your after then pick the one you like best!!
If it is going to be used for hi speed like the silver state race then i would say the 3 piece. need all the down force you can get in the rear @ speeds of 150 +

To me the car looks weird with no spoiler.
I wont drive the silver state since im in Europe, but I will make it my mission to go to nurburgring ( hope I spell it right).
Hmm if only the 1 piece spoiler was a bit taller.

Supposedly, the low one piece spoiler caused lift at higher speeds. I'm not positive on that, I just remember hearing it somewhere. The taller one was apparently designed with downforce in mind. One of the few functional factory spoilers out there. I say go with the tall spoiler. I added one to mine because I thought my car looked naked without it. Well, that and the fact that I have a habit of seeing just how fast my car can go......

I used to own a 73 with a L88 hood, chin spoiler and the 3 piece looked awesome. Go with the 3 piece, you won't regret it.

How hard it to convert to an RS front end?

Not too bad, just expensive becuase you need at least:
1 Upper RS header panel.
2) Lower RS valance.
3) Endura (or fiberglass) nose.
4) Grill surround.
5) Grill halves (2).
6) Grill supprt/center piece.
7) Blinkers (2).
8) A number of brackets that hold the backside of the front end pieces to the radiator support (not sure how many of these are different from the standard front end).

There may be other minor parts necessary...
