We have the chance to get this track for a weekend in April. I need to know how many people would be willing to commit to coming. Probably a one day, Saturday deal. Road course and Autocrossing. I am guessing $175-$200 entry fee. Possibly carting on Friday for those that wanted to play and spend a little extra.

Now is the time to post up and step up if you are serious about wanting to play close to home. As you all know, If I say we are serious about an event, I do my part to make it happen. We are serious, have sponsor commitments and they will be watching this thread. Other sponsors are certainly welcomed and that would determine the final price for participants to play.
Post up, let me hear your thoughts. I don't have a large window of time here, so, are you IN or OUT?

Opposite ends of the state, but if one of the cars are ready, I'm game.

I guess the backup would be the 74 SD T/A. As much of a blast it would be, I would hate to loose it on the track as I tend to drive balls to the wall. Can I bring the DD BMW?

Takes me 4 hours to get to East Hampton from my house in Voorhees. I am 45 minutes north east of the track. Straight down NJ turnpike to exit 4. Then 295 south to merge onto Rte 42 south quickly to route 55 south. Drive is easy.

Guys, Bill is the man to put this together. We get the Thunderbolt track. Approx 2 miles. Lots of run off. Lap times 1 minute 15 seconds and up. I drove the track. It is fast. Bring your "A" game. It would be a real blast.

Track is in Millville. 45 minutes south of Philadelphia. Atlantic city is east. About 30 miles to Delaware. I frequently do NJ turnpike exit 8A to track. An hour and 45 minutes should do it. It is a straight run, mostly highway until exit off rte 55.

As for a cruise, the track is about 40-50 miles from Cape May one way, about 1-1 1/2 hour or 3 hours round trip. Cape May is a cool Victorian era town on the southernmost tip of NJ and depending on the route could have some nice scenic roads. Of course we could cut straight East and then head south on the NJ Parkway for some highway fun (within legal limits of course).

This is what I was telling Bill the other night. I was screwing with a map and thought we could do back roads to the beach, maybe sea isle city, then wind down the beach to cape may, maybe to the light house

OK Guys, Everything is set, registration is officially open. All years, cars are welcomed, though we prefer American rear wheel drive.
Remember, this is a no refund event, we will run rain or shine. If you buy a spot and then can not make it, it is up to you to sell your spot. I simply don't have the time to be the broker. As all my events go, selling a spot has never been a problem, we always have a waiting list. This event is open to the first 60 PAID spots. You must go to my paypal, and pay or pm me for my address if you prefer sending check or money order. Your spot is not reserved until payment.
Thanks guys, this will be a huge event and we are looking forward to it, see everyone there.

Randy, I will check on that, I just am not sure about camping. We are renting the one track and skid pad for Saturday so not sure what that includes as far as getting there early, etc.

Thanks guys for all the response already this morning. Be sure and call your local friends that have mentioned coming, I fear like the other events we will fill up quickly and someone will miss out. I got to figure out how to fix this problem.. but I guess it is a good one to have.

I want to publicly thank Mike Manning with American Autowire for all his behind the scenes work to make this happen. This was his idea after he was at Motorstate in his then brand new DSE built Camaro last year. It went from conversation at the hotel one night to registration this morning, so be sure and tell Mike how much you appreciate him and efforts to see this happen. American Autowire has always been a supporter of this hobby and now are stepping up to see we all have a place to play in the Northeast.
Other sponsors on board for RTTS are BF Goodrich, thanks Richard, Detroit Speed and Engineering, thanks Kyle, Stacy and crew and Carbon Kustoms, thanks Albert for your continued support.
Two other companies have pmed and we are working on their spots now. We can always use sponsorship money and of course door prizes. I take pride in the great door prizes we always seem to have donated at our events. If you are thinking about what your company can do, pm me so I can fit you in.
Thanks guys!

I definately want to do the cruise and the karting........but I am just not sure if my car is capable of doing the autocross and road course. I have stock brakes all the way around and when turning right there is a mystery noise coming from the passenger door hinge/body line area. Im not sure if the sheet metal is cracking or what...freaky!! I also noticed that there are no spectators allowed at the track day...so I guess if I dont register I cant even watch??

I just dont want to buy the registration and 1) block some one else who can really "race" thier car 2) destroy my car 3) waste my time with a car that wont be able to stop...lol.

What do you all think?

Well I answered my own question.....

REGISTERED AND PAID!!!!!!!! I will be there for all three events and my g/f will participate in the cruise and the karting in her 2004 Mustang Cobra.

Thank you so much for putting this together!!!!!!!

You have to remember that this isnt a "race". There's going to be cars of every shape/size and performance level. You can go as fast or as slow as you want, this isn't about ego's or lap times, its a chance to have a good time with like minded people safely at speeds that you cant do on a public road .

I'm very interested, but will have to play this one by ear as we get closer. Is there anyone coming from the Washington, DC area with a trailer? I don't trailer my car and am hesitant to get that far from home, as I usually drive to and from the track and am worried about getting stranded if I brake something.

Thanks Douglas and Nick. I too am unsure about what my car can handle but really want to come down and just have a good time. I am unsure if my car will make the 2 hour+ drive. I plan on heading down from Northern NJ Route 3 Clifton area and hopping on the turnpike. I'm looking to see if anyone else is heading that way maybe we can get a convoy going. I plan to check out hotels and sign up tonight.

Randy, no, no rules posted yet. For a loose reference, look at the RTTHs rules. All my events are similar and rules are about the same. In the case of tires and TW, ALWAYS that number is 200. Anything under 200 will still be allowed to run but not eligible for the $5 trophy or bragging rights of King of the Shore.

We'll be heading down from Southern Ct on the Friday, probably early morning, right now its a truck/trailer and a car, so closer to the event we can work out a rest stop or something to meet up. Will be booking our hotel in the New Year.

I'm registered and paid. Now to get working on my suspension to be ready, I certainly won't be winning any events but I'm so excited about just having a good time and seeing some awesome cars and people. I'll be driving the Beast down. It'll be nice to get anyone heading down to hook up at different places on friday. I'll be getting on the NJ turnpike by the Meadowlands Giants/Jets stadium, North Jersey. Anyone interested in joining this convoy please let's figure it out and have a fun ride down for a great time. I will also be heading back after the event on saturday. What hotel is everybody staying at? I'm gonna wait a few days to book when I know where everyone is staying.

Thanx so much Bill. I will probably be in, still mulling it over. Lightning looks like a great course. Actually better suited to my car I think. I might have missed it but how does the time get split up between the road course and autox? Or is that up to the participant which they want to do?

Everyone will be required to do both, but you only have to do the autocross three laps. I know that most want to spend as much time as possible on the big tracks when they get the chance so I will not hold anyone back from that.

Bill- any thoughts on the 180 vs 200 treadwear discussion going on? (i.e. good-guys allowing 180, more tire selection available in that tread wear?) I'm due for new street tires for my 68 and was looking at going to the 180 kuhmo's anyway to reduce spin on the street in 3rd gear I hope, or about the only other choices are 300 wear nitto 555's and my current bfg-kdws @ 400! thanks- Dan

Bill Howell
12-27-2010, 07:57 PM
Treadwear, as always, will be 200 this year. I have heard all the arguments before and understand them. However, in keeping with STREET CARS, 200 is the number we picked a couple years ago, 200 is the number different event promotors agreed to last year to keep with the spirit of real street cars. We will be using that same number in 2011. Remember, TW200 only comes into play if you want to compete to win a $5 trophy and have the bragging rights for a year, buy what suits your style and plans for the year. We will let anyone that comes run, just 200 is the magic number to qualify for crown.

no problem, even with 40 treadwear I still wouldn't be the fastest! :)

Tim there usually is a person or two with trailers at the events and if that doesn't happen (be a very rare time) there is always u-haul.... Never let an event slip by due to distance as u-haul rents pickups and trailers very very cheap.... Enjoy yourself and attend the event and see what all the talk is about,,, you'll be glad you did...

Thats a shame... i've been to a few airshows (near the track), and the Millville I remember was open farmland. My friends went to the track last year and said the track and surrounding area was beautiful.

You guys have to remember that April 1-3 is still off season for any kind of "Jersey Shore" trash... I've been to Seaside (of all places) in April... its pretty much a ghost town... I can't image a place like this, off the beaten path, to be packed with scumbags... especially that time of year.

If anyone finds a better place please let us know... if not, we do have strength in numbers.... we could always divide up shifts for parking lot guard duty... of coarse i'll have to pass... i do need my beauty sleep. hahaha

I stayed at the Windgate in Vineland last time and it was nice. Not far from the track and not a bad area. It's right off the hwy. And they have a huge parking lot in the back for trailers. Also a few restaraunts in the complex . We ate at Bennigans. This is where I'm going to stay.

Vinnie, can you post the hotel address and phone number?

What we all thinking?? Stay at the one Vinnie is at? The Hampton Inn & Suites is the newest one in the area...it looks pretty nice.

It seems like all the hotels are relatively close to each other so if one is in a bad area, I guess they all are.

Does anyone that's involved with this event live near enough to the track to physically go there and take a look around? You know, do a little recon on the hotels. :machine:

I may shoot down to scope the area...

I work with a guy from the Vineland area, he's telling me the Ramada Inn off rt 55 is in a nice area... as well as the Windgate that Vinnie mentioned. He said if we stay in nieghboring hotels or areas near the Windgate that would be the best, safest bet...

Glad to hear the news I held off on booking at the Motorsports Inn Ill be booking at the Wingate. Thanks I'm a retired Detective and am looking forward to a fun weekend I'm tired of fighting with crackheads. Although I'm an expert marksman and could keep an eye on the parking lot for a few hours at night :machine: if no one minds a little crackhead brain matter on their car if one tries to steal :thankyou: Gotta get my suspension underway. Will there awards for slowest times?? I'm going for that one. First event, cars power isn't gonna be ready for this one but looking forward to learning and having fun. Also looking to meet up with anyone heading down the NJ turnpike I'll be getting on by Giants/Jets Stadium. I may trailer since I think car will make ride but if something goes wrong there it's a long way back and I plan on doing the motor after this event so not too sure of it. Can't wait!!!

I have had several ask so I thought I would mention it in the thread.
We are going to have a great weekend. Several people can not do the cruise or even the track day on Saturday but are able to come out on Sunday. The question has been is it ok to come participate in the go carting part on Sunday but not do the track day. ABSOLUTELY! In fact, I need 50 or 60 for the go cart portion. We have a surprise for everyone that day, but suffice it to say we will have a blast. It will be like nothing you have ever done before, so be sure and sign up for it if you can come. Also, if you have friends that want to be part of a fun afternoon with gearheads, by all means invite them.
