Hey guys just picked up a 71 camaro. I have a tilt steering column out of a 91 camaro. My question has anyone done this swap before? Can it be done realitivily easily? Thanks in advance for your responses.

I swapped a 4th gen column into my '68. I don't think there are many differences mechanically between a 3rd and 4th gen rack. It's a pretty simple swap. I'll try to dig up pictures. I cut the all the dash bracketry off the 4th gen column and welded a few nuts onto it to emulate the 1st gen column. I also ended up shortening the engine compartment side of the column between 3 to 4 inches. Instead of the stock steering shaft I ended up welding in a small piece of 3/4" DD shaft and will continue using it up to my rack.

The only thing I would point out about the column from the 91 is that any punk with a stolen 2.00 screwdriver can break them and drive off with your pride and joy. The plastic columns that stated in 1978 were the biggest POS from a security stand point. Just my .02
