Way too cool!!!! I really can't wait to get out on a track. Hell, some people say I need it more than I need a girl!!! Hmm.... Nahh.... Both at the same time would really be trouble. Car sounds and looks awesome Adam. I'm jealous here.

The GT3 and GT4 license tests definetly helped me for real life driving as funny as that sounds.
I was told over the weekend that the video of me chasing down the C5 didnt work so I re-linked it and it should work now. I updated it in the first thread too.

This first video is me chasing down a heavily modified and dynoed 420hp C5 Corvette.

Very cool, car sounds killer, guess you got the motor fixed. The Corvettes look like girls are driving them nicey nice through the centers of the corners. In trouble after that comment, especially with all the Danaka press right now.

Thanks a lot Frank. :) I guess Ken said my car was voted the best sounding car out there which was a great compiment too.
Yeah the engine seems perfect again. Hard to believe after all that debate and frustration that it only ended up being a pushrod and 2 rockers. To think I almost pulled my engine too. Im still glowing with pride and happiness from that event. :)
Hard to believe the suspension and brakes are stock besides the Wilwood pads up front.

Just goes to show you that seat time is the greatest mod of all!

Car sounds great by the way. I liked watching you take charge of the yuppymob...I mean corvettes in front of you. :)

Hey CAMAROBOY69, this is a little off topic but what type of primer is that on your car? I've got a 69 and plan on driving it before I get money for paint. Car Looks Sweet!

CAMAROBOY69
06-02-2005, 10:25 AM
I use epoxy primer on the majority of my vehicles that im not going to paint for a while and they might be exposed to the elements of nature. I am extremely impressed with the quality and the ability to block out any moisture at all. Ive been using this stuff for at least 3 or 4 years now.
I drove this Camaro last year at the end of the Power tour and it rained for 2 straight days as hard as you can possibly imagine and I still dont have any sign of rust anywhere thru the Primer. We took the mustang directly to bare metal and put Epoxy Primer over it. I believe it was about $79.00 a gallon. You could easily do 2 cars, 4 or 5 coats each with 1 gallon of this stuff. I think it was Omni.

Thanks for the compliments again guys! yeah it was awesome out there. I was absolutely shocked at how well my Camaro did considering I have so many stock suspension components on my car. Stock suspension just cut up to get it lowered. Stock steering and NO power steering. Stock shocks. Stock small stabalizer bar. Stock brakes , all stock, besides wilwood pads in front. I was just amazed I could even keep up with the Vettes. It was the most incredible car experience of my life. :drive:  :woot: :woot: :jump:
Woodward and the Power tour would be 2nd best.

It's good to see that these things aren't that horrid in pretty much factory trim. I can't wait to get my upgrades though :)

I gotta admit, Adam.....that video where your girlfriend kisses you and you both said, "I Love You" got me pretty choked up. I had to pause it about half way through just to collect myself.

:lmao: ......just messin with ya.

The car does sound killer. Looks like it rides on rails too. That one clip of it coming out of the corner shows it sitting pretty flat all the way through. Do you have a roll cage in your car and is it needed to participate in an event like that. When I get mine done, I wouldn't mind stretching it's legs out on a road course once just out of curiosity. But I don't want to put a roll cage in it.

Thanks for sharing those, makes me wanna get mine done even more now.

Tony,
hahah yeah I get a tear on that one too. Especially when the radio came on and scared the crap out of me since I was already nervous about going out. :lmao:

Thanks for the compliments on the sound of the car. I hope when I run my exhaust out the back it doesnt make it quiter. If it does then I will keep re-designing and installing it until I am happy.
My car doesnt have a roll bar or sub frame connectors and it seems like it rides extremely level. And like I mentioned many times, I have bone stock suspension. So just imagine how well it would do with the good stuff which I probably will never be able to afford. Roll bars weren't necessary but the modified Corvette had a roll bar in it. If I do install a roll cage it will only be a 4 point.
The Nitto 555 tires were more than impressive out there. Heck they are more than impressive in any condition including rain.
Proof that even poor people like me can actually fun on a track and still keep up with modern cars. :woot: :drive1:

Your car looks great.

Any plans to head out there again? I would love to come by and see it in action.
My buddy and I headed out there last night just to see what was going on at the open track. We had never been before, so it was great.

I would love to see your car running, as I am trying to find the inspiration (and the money) to get working on my 68 Camaro.

Again, looks great.

I notice this is your first post. Welcome to the site. We will all give you one of these. :grouphug: I am honored that your first post was in my thread. Thanks a lot for the compliments too. I would like to get out there at least a couple times a year with the Camaro. It was only a little over $100 for the day and thats an impossible deal to beat.
Where are you located? I was under the impression you live by Gingerman raceway but I could have read the thread wrong. Mabey some time you can come up and check my car out. If you go to Woodward this year you will possibly see it there.
EDIT: I just re-hosted all 3 videos in the first thread. They only get hosted for 7 days then I have to host them again

Adam,

Thanks for the welcome. I have been checking out this site for about the past year. I bought the car last summer.
I live in Grand Rapids.
MY buddy and I had gone down to the F1 race at Indy, and kinda got the bug to try some roadracing of our own.
I have another friend who goes down to Gingerman with his VW pals, so knew that it was there, but had never been.

My friend Mike was probably online looking for a helmet this afternoon. Planning to settle the dispute about our daily drivers once and for all. His has a little more power, but mine is about 400 pounds lighter.

I will keep an eye out for a primer 69 at Woodward. This will be my 6th year. I went to school over there....

I'll let you know which car we'll have, and maybe, pardon the pun, run into each other.

I would love to meet and talk to you for a while. Get some ideas of where to get started with mine. It just seems like such a huge task.

Again, thanks for being so patient. And I hope I am not pestering you.

Grand rapids. Thats only about 30 minutes from me. You have to come to Grand Haven some time to meet Teddy and I (Teddys Camaro is his user name). Its always nice to meet other PT members, especialy really nice ones that are open minded and get hands on with their vehicles. Yeah we have to hook up some time soon for sure. I am actually meeting Teddy again on Sunday and will probably be there for most of the day.
Your not pestering me at all. If you want we can chat more thru the PM on this site. That way were not chatting in the thread. I can also give you my # so we meet. :attn:
I dont check the site as much on the weekend so if I dont reply right away, dont be offended. :)

Or if you have an email, that could work too.

Despite the fact that I am on the computer all day here, I am kinda new to the whole forum thing, and PM could work, as long as it is pretty simple.

I could certainly come and meet you guys.
Too bad the camaro isn't driveable. I would love to get somebody's opinion on the car who has actually done work on one.
Most people are scarred of how much work it looks like.

OOps it has been brought to my attention that the video of my car idling and shifting thru gears was linked wrong in the first post. I just corrected it.
Dang I want to get it out again soo bad but theres just too much snow on the roads. I also need to add the Hydraboost unit, finish exhaust, finishe fuel cell, and add the DC Controller for the fan. :fingersx:

Adam,
We are in the works for another Gingerman track day. I see someone else has one on April 14th as well. Dave is going to have his brother create a website. It should be up shortly. We are thinking about having more cars this time based on the fact that so many people left early. I'll let you know so you can get signed up.

CAMAROBOY69
12-15-2005, 11:15 AM
Thats awesome Ken. You can count me in for sure. Mabey if I am lucky I can get Heathers Mustang there too but that is very doubtful. Make sure if you do another event you start a new thread on this site for it.
I would not do any more than 45-50 people. I think what we had out there was perfect and if too many people come then that will restrict track time.
What car are you going to bring? The vette or camaro?

BB69
12-16-2005, 07:28 AM
Adam,
We are thinking about adding only one more group. That would bring the total number of cars to about 35. If you remember last year, several people didn't show up until one or two runs into the morning, and a lot left in the afternoon. I still think we will have plenty of time.

I'm not sure which car I am going to bring. The engine and trans are back in the Camaro. I still have to do all the plumbing and put the front end sheetmetal back on. The Vette is sitting in garage waiting for the holidays to be over so I can get started on winter projects. I am converting it to rack and pinion, and doing some revisions to the rear suspension to make it safer and more stable. I may also be swapping out the original gauges for all Autometer. Anyway, it will probably be a game time decision. Also, with the April 14th date that is being advertised in another thread, I may go twice. You just never know.

what kind of hp is your 383 putting out and what rpm are you shifting? Is it a hydraulic roller or what? I always am inspired by your videos and want to go racing when my motor gets put in.

Adam,

Love that video.
Especially the one with your GF where you say goodbye, crank up the tunes and takeoff onto the track. We play that back here at the office a few times cranked way up such that the "suits" next door look out the window for a car. Very funny. Cruel, but funny.

This is to harshman and speedster
I only have stock cast iron heads on that engine so I assume I currently only have around 400hp. My best quarter was 12.66 at 108mph about 2 years ago. If I had aluminum heads it would help a LOT. I have a hydrolic cam. Solid would help a lot too.
I am granny shifted around 5,000rpm that entire day. I had to drive it back home so I didnt want to rev it too high all day long.
Thats really awesome that you bothlike watching the videos and they inspire you. :) :) It was the best car day of my life and I like to watch the videos too.
You will have the time of your life if you can get on a track like that.

Ken,
I checked out the other thread you were talking about for April and in that event they allow passengers!! You should really look into that for your event too. Heck even if it is $20.00 more per person it would be worth it. Its one thing to have my GF and her family there watching but to be able to bring them along would be sweeeet!!
