Is sound deadening (foil backed tar stuff) an adequate replacement for that cloth like pad that comes from that factory? I really don't like it, it looks raggedy.

On that note, is there any coupons for Damplifier from Second Skin?

Sound deadening like Damplifier is excellent but doesn't deal with heat or a good bit of the actual noise (as opposed to vibration). Something like Luxury Liner on top of it works excellent. I'm extremely happy with how well it works for both heat and noise. The combination of Damplifier Pro and Luxury Liner Pro on the inside of my firewall/cowl and through my entire floor and trunk seem to transfer about zero heat and noise. Combined with Damplifier Pro in the doors, sides of quarter panels, etc and it's amazing how quiet and solid the car is for a convertible with a strong motor. If only there were a way to make the convertible top quiet!

2nd Skin also has a product called Heatwave and Heatwave pro, which you might look into.

How thick is this in comparison with the stock firewall pad?

I have a bunch of Heatwave pro, and its about 1/2" or 3/8" compressed. My stock firewall pad was just about beaten to death so I'm not sure I can give reasonable comparison, but from the looks of it this should be a ton more affective.

I plan on using Damplier Pro then Heatwave and then some Luxury liner Pro over that. Each takes care of something different (vibration, heat and noise). I live in Southern Ca so the summers get hot and no A/C on my car, so I need to keep the heat to a minimum. Probably put some HW Pro over the trans tunnel too.

Ah, I figured more than one type of product would be needed. I might just used that ceramic heat paint they offer, I saw a video a while back and thought it looked really good and effective.

Any word on if the new owners are as nice as ANT was with the coupon codes, that stuff gets expensive quick. Lol.

Wow. Don't know how I missed that. I hope he did OK, and I hope the product continues to be as good as it was.

I have some of the thicker edead I might use that and paint that ceremic secondskin paint over it. I might throw what's left of that paint on the roof over the.noise paint.

Hmmmm I hate that Ant sold S/S. He was very helpful just wish I was that far along before he sold it. So anyone know what journey Ant is doing now? Brandon

He runs a car audio forum. I'll let you know its name when I get home.

Did it make a big difference in noise? I have a 61 ragtop that the exhaust is too loud and am looking to do the same. I just want the exhaust and engine noise down to an enjoyable level when cruisin with the family.
