im about to convert to power brakes on my 70 duster. the factory booster spec calls for 16-20 inches of vacuum, but anecdotal evidence suggests that my 15 in will be fine.

im planning on autocrossing the car with the tarheel sports car club next season, so i want to make sure that i dont run out of brakes on a technical course.

im looking at the electric vacuum pumps for this reason.

i know that there are some aftermarket versions, but have heard that these are rather noisy. also, theyre expensive.

i have heard that the OEMs used the vacuum assist pumps on various vehicles, mostly during the 80's. after a few hours on google, i have found nothing conclusive on this. anyone knoe for certain, or have some references?

thanks
Michael

Any GM J-body. Look under the battery tray. I did a story a while back for High Performance Pontiac on this. I'll see if I can find it.

i would really appreiate it of you could.

ive got to go to pull-a-part next weekend, and that would be the perfect time to grab one.

Wow. That took some digging. Follow this link. Mine worked well enough but these pumps have a reputation for not being very durable. Test it before you walk away from the yard.
