Here is a spy screen shot for just a taste of the new Chris Alston’s Chassisworks Gen II sub-frame and rear g-Link systems to come in the next month. All our great Chassisworks Street Machine front and g-Link rear suspension systems made to work on the Gen II car plus some trick new additions like a frame connector with cross brace and driveshaft loop and for the all out chassis car a rear frame section to mate up to the frame connector.

More info will be available in the coming weeks, please contact your authorized Pro-touring.com Chassisworks dealers for pricing and to place your orders.

I`m really excited about this new stuff for the 2nd Gens! Their achillies heel has always been a lack of chassis rigidity. They`re really flexible flyers. The undercar structure attached to the subframe connectors looks very similar to the TCP units that work so well on Mustangs. I understand that the not-so-mini tub kit along with the new rear rails will allow some eye popping tire sizes too. But I don`t know if I can talk about that yet, heh heh. :) Mark SCC

Looks good. The drive shaft loop looks pretty close to the transmission tail (front U-joint)? Different from some of the other designs I have seen where they put the loop towards the rear U-joint.

And not being a racer or that knowledgeable on where they should be placed it seems the front mounted one (like what you have) would be more useful.

Is there any reason why a rear mounted one would be used? I ask because mine is a rear mounted loop and Im wondering if there is a problem.

Again, I dont race, and have never had a U-joint fail completely. I do have my exhaust X-pipe that would support the flailing shaft in a failure from dropping. But it wont keep the shaft from intruding into the passengers compartment if its too violent, only 16ga sheet metal there. And really, Im not anticipating a failure. Just looking to get schooled. Thanks, JR

No worries if the rear of the shaft falls, it will just raise some hell and make some noise.

If the front of the shaft falls you stand a high chance of pole vaulting!

If you run slicks or a certain speed in drag racing NHRA requires a front drive shaft loop. If you run even faster you need a rear loop as well.

BTW good looking frame

Any way to use the rear frame rails with leafsprings? I have a bad left frame rail and this is as close to a replacement as I see.

Ghostwhite,

Autoweld makes custom frame rails. They also have stock replacements for camaros, mustangs and even falcons.
