I just bought the Cannon S1 3.2 digital and I want to buy a larger mem card. It comes with a 32 meg compact flash card but I see that there are also the Compact flash II micro drives. Does anybody here know the difference and if I can use the microdrive in the camera. I am looking for somthing in the 1 gig or larger range.

1 gig or larger??? What are you taking pics of? My S5100 will hold about 900 pics on a 512card at 1600X1240.
I would stick with the CF card, a lot of memory that will physically fit will have read or save errors on different devices. A 1 gig CF card is easy to find and under 100.00 all day.

You should be able to look up the specs on Cannon's site to see what types are supported with it. They will list Type I Compact Flash, Type II Compact Flash, and Micro-drive specifically. In my camera I ended up buying a Creative Labs MuVo2 and ripped the micro-drive out of it to put in my Minolta DiMage A2. It's a 4GB micro-drive that ended up costing $200 in the MP3 player as opposed to buying the drive directly for over $400. I can now do as Dennis does and fit about 800+ pictures at 3264x2448 pixels.
Compact Flash will be able to write out of the buffer quicker than a micro-drive will and will also allow your battery to last longer because it won't have to spin up the hard drive to read/write the pictures. Something to keep in mind depending upon what you are going to use it for.
