View Full Version : Notching RV Fuel Tank

I have a stainless Rock Valley EFI fuel tank for a first gen (unused). My car is mini-tubbed and this tank is not notched. I'm running a ChassisWorks 4-link and plan to have a 2.5" exhaust route over the rear and out the back. It definitely looks like I need to make room so my question is:

Is it possible to notch this tank or sell this one at a loss and buy new?

It would be notched by someone who builds fuel tanks, oil tanks for race cars and can weld stainless. My concern is that there may be some part of the internal baffle system we hit when cutting open the tank at the corners. Anyone know what's inside? Are these the same as what DSE sells? (I heard somewhere they are RV tanks).

Any advice appreciated.

I have the same set up but I ran my 2.5's below and out the back side of the rear tire.

Thanks Brett - I did see your pics in another thread. The car will be very low and run on the street so I definitely want to run them above the rear. Appreciate the suggestion though and I can see how tempting that would be to do.

Cheers!

Most tank designs like that have no internal structure past the centerline of the tank straps. Notching should be no problem and more cost effective than taking a loss by selling/re-buying.
