I have a dilemma of what to do with the original front fenders. They need repairs and patchwork to the lowers and are going to need a bunch of time to do. One needs a new inner brace to be re-worked. The other has a patch on the inside and outside sandwiching the original metal. Looking at an extra $500 per side in labour to remove, re-work, cut and re-weld. I have a feeling though, that number will increase to around $800 per side. I can get new AMD fenders for $450/side. Dilemma is to go aftermarket or save the originals. What to do????

I would definitely try to keep the original sheet metal it fits much better than any aftermarket company.

I wouldn't even waste my time, get new fenders and move on,just include stock fenders with the car when selling if someone wants stock fenders

I like to try to work as much original metal as possible but if your braces are gone I'd look into new. I hear AMD's fit pretty good.

My situation was similar except that the fenders that were on the car were not original GM parts. Both sides needed work in the lower corners and fronts. I decided to go with the AMD fenders and I got them for 290.00 each with the extentions from a local vendor.

The body/paint guy that did my Camaro said that he wouldn't waste his time and just got new fenders

I saved mine that looked like that. If I had it to do over would just buy new! Mine were welded like that and it warped the metal more than it first appeared. I spent way too much time fixing. I had to do other tweaking to get a good fit anyway. So...what they said...
