Greetings pro-touring people of earth. I have just been directed here from the planet Team Camaro. Wondering if other simular life forms exist outside of my planet. Currently looking for more pictures of this ride. iamtheonlyrealone
I am starting my build tomorrow of a COPO Clone 1969 Camaro. Not sure exactly how it will end at this point but since this is my first time here I will have a look around and say high.
John 510 sent me your way.
Over at Team Camaro we like the porn, so here is a picture of what I am starting with. If you have any comments, jokes, or just want to give me a hard time have at 'er!
I guess I'll find out how neighborly ya'll are. Since I haven't checked out the site yet I can't comment either way, but from what I can tell this is the place to come to chat about some serious tire stretching. Not sure if I fit in with the crowd, but nothing wrong with checkin out the hood!

Sort of the idea I am contemplating right now. I don't like shinny stuff. I like functional drivable cars that are nasty and meant to be driven hard for fun. Did I come to the right place? I will have a cruise around and see what's up. I don't plan on spending a ton of money on my car, just want to get it mean and nasty and have a ton of fun driving around my hood. Picture of my hood below.

Heres a couple of my other attempts at having fun. Nothing special just my first car and my second car. If you have any ideas for the grandma car let me know. That would be the white 69 at the top, that I just purchased off a very nice little 88 year old grandmother who was the original owner. She said that no one ever drove the car but her. What is even cooler is that she lived just down the street from me and the car was purchased in the same neighborhood. In Camaro land we are big on the docs and this car has all the original paperwork etc.
Feel free to shoot me down or convince me to put 13 inch disc brakes all around. You never know it may just work. Like I said. I am a virgin just rare for the pickin!
Greetings to all you pro-touring maniacs. You sound like a cool bunch. I hope to see ya'll around.

Very cool.....I agree....love the plain jane look of a bare bones COPO...that white car fits the bill nicely.
Have a read of these forums...the gear thats here is mindblowing for people who actually like to drive their cars, and enjoy something that handles and stops better than a 1969 car.

Hey Rybar. Greetings fellow lower mainlander! Are there anymore of you out there? I wish I could spend more money. I was afraid that might be the case over here. I guess this is the Beverely Hills part of town site, or British Properties for you and me. I like what Steve said about buying parts from guys who upgrade. That is more my style, especially first week of school and all. Who knows I met get the bug. One never knows. Currently pretty old school, but the idea of better handling does apeal to me. And yes funny enough, I am looking for rear leafs and shocks. Make me a good deal, I am poor North Vanner!
P.S. Is there a group of guys in Van that hook up or cruise?

Hey Steve. How do you know?
I've been on the "child support" budget for the last 10 yrs, and for the years before I had to hide my money from a bipolar "all the money you make needs to go to the family" style of wife, now ex!
so I scoured the adds for stuff I needed, DSE tubs, subframe connectors, front sway bar, my LS motor, got all them for pennys on the dollar,

I know a few guys with some nice pro-touring rides. There is a cruise every February where a few guys get together, but no regular get togethers that I know of. I'll send you a PM regarding the parts.

Just as a side note--you don't HAAAVE to spend THAAAAAAAATTTT much money. There is a certain level of involvement that you're probably going to have to meet--there's the hard way (research, piece by piece, doing all of the work yourself, waiting for deals to pop up, etc.) or the easy way (money money money money.....MONEY!!). For each step of the way, you can decide what the right choice is for you--there's nothing wrong with either path in my book. I know that as soon as I got to paint, body, and electrical on my car, I said fuhgeddaboudit and farmed it out. There's all sorts of different levels of intensity you can build to, too. Just don't get addicted to the super-high level stuff and you can keep your wallet from exploding.
Another good thing to do, since you're starting with a fresh build, is to make a plan of exactly what you want to do and stick to it like glue, no matter what super-mega-awesome stuff comes up along the way.

Hey thanks Wes that is great advice. I just started a build thread at Team Camaro not sure if you surf there, but I have what I think is a good plan for now. I am going to try to stick to it and enjoy my car and make sure that it always drivable. I made a 7 year mistake once, never again for my style. Some of the process was fun, but I really am more about the driving than the building. I am going to try to be thrifting and shop for deals and not be addicted to shinny things!

Ah yeah. Been there done that. The wife and all that is. Now I need to learn to shop like you and I might actually finish it properly. Discipline is the key. Must not buy expensive shinny things! If I can get great used stuff at a fraction of the price that is.

I love it when fellow members jump right in and start helping out. Alot of good advice without all of the politics, thats exactly why I love this site and its members. Welcome 69Z28FREAK (name?) and good find on the Granny 69.

Welcome to the site. Always nice to see a fellow BC'er. You might find that all the plans you had before coming onto this site will change....and change drastically. Before I found this site I was doing a fairly mild leaf spring ladder bar set up for my 68 Acadian. Now.....it's turning into a full pro-touring build. Nothing from my original plans are still planned for the car :)

Spoolmak days...that's before my time in Kamloops. I'll admit...had to google it to see what it was. Very nice country for cruising. The weather's been acting up though lately...I'm tying to get my car into primer before the white stuff hits. The ways it's feeling outside, wouldn't surprise me if it hit soon. No neither brother is really a car guy. One has talked about getting an older Camaro but I doubt he ever will.

Hey Wayne I have been following Mikes Custom Cars for a while. They do amazing work and it looks like they have built a lot of Camaros. I will zip over the the site and see if I can find your car build.
