Hey guys, there will be an autocross at Delaware Park Casino here in Delaware on Nov. 7th and my buddy Nick and I are entering. Nick has been talking a bunch of smack of course since he is that kind of guy lol but he will be in a 2001 Audi TT 225hp with an exhaust, springs and not much else. I will be running my 72 nova, it has 650lb front springs, Hotchkis 3 inch drip leafs, QA1 adjuatable shocks, SPC uca's with extra tall ball joints, solid upper and lower control arm bushings, half inch drop solid body mount bushings, subframe connectors, mild to aggressive alignment, 18x8.5 fronts and 18x9.5 rears with 245/40 and 275/40 nitto 555's. Do I stand a chance? Before I put the 18's on it I was glued to his bumper on a back road and that was also without the 3.73's and posi I recently and I can say that the car feels SO much better now. I will post some pics of my car soon, im using my phone right now.

Whoever is the better driver... and if that's equal, whoever has the better tires.

Just got back from a very long day. We both ended up in the street modified class which put us up against some VERY steep competition. We got there at 8:15 and our heat didn't run until 3:00 so it was a very long day. The air temperature was somewhere in the 40's and once the clouds came out it got downright cold! Of course the battery in both the video camera and the camera i brought both died after being charged all night. My cousin took a few videos on his phone so hopefully they will turn out ok and i will try and post them. The first 4 runs i was quicker than the audi, getting faster each time, unfortunately my carburator SUCKS!!! and has taken a liking to bogging down in low rpms and the last run i locked up the brakes entering a turn so i ran about a second slower than my fastest. He edged out on me by less than half a second on the last run, but he also ate a cone so that added 2 seconds to his time so in all technicality i ran the fastest lap between the two of us. I definitely got some heads turning seeing what an old car can do out on the track compared to everything else. It was a blast but i will be sure to throw this carburator in the garbage soon and find something better, the bogging down absolutely killed me and had me very irate by the end of the day lol. I can't wait for warmer weather, the tires probably never got over 80 degrees, still cool to the touch after each run.

Oh and i was only 1.1 seconds behind a viper with a very experienced driver!

Nice work, you won! A cone is a 2 second penalty.

One thing you can do to combat the bogging issue a bit is to ride both the brake and gas pedal at the same time when going through a corner. That will keep the car more willing to accelerate and not bog. Sounds like you had a blast, thanks for the report! Just curious, how long was the course in terms of both distance and time?

It was about 125 yards long, each way and about 40 yards wide, 2 slaloms, 6 boxes, the fastest time that i saw (excluding the caterham) was a 29.9 from a very well prepared evo and i'm pretty sure he still clipped a cone though, i did see a couple other very low 30.1's

I'm thinking my bogging may be from my fuel system, everyone has heard about the dangers of e-10 and that is the only kind of gas around here. Recently i had to replace two small pieces of rubber fuel line that had become very soft and i only found them when they started to ooze a black sludge onto the garage floor...that could have gummed up the carb so i'm going to replace the entire fuel system this winter.
