Went to the last autocross for the year in St Paul today. Man is that fun! Got 9 runs in. Ended up with a best of 28.6?. Fastest cars were around 25.5 (Miata's mostly). Met some great guys and plan on doing it a bunch more next year. Sorry no action shots as I had to go by myself. I entered in the vintage catagory but got move to novice as I was the only pre 80 car out of 110. I think I ended up with 3rd. Time for some stickier tires.

Fun isn't it? Glad you had a good time. When I took my Cutlass I was by far the oldest domestic car. It makes me wonder where all of the pro-touring cars are at the "regular" autocross events. I did pretty well for my lack of power (stock '75 Olds 350) and non-autox friendly tires. Now I am yearning for better tires too. :-)

Car looks great! Wish I could have been there. I'm looking forward to having another musclecar to run with next year.
Where's your costume?

This is how it starts.....when you start DRIVING your car hard, you just want more. More grip, more go, more stop and more seat time. Glad you had a good time.
Short courses up there, huh. Chicago region scca yesterday, we were running low 70's and a guy in a GT3 porsche on A6's was running 62 ish.

Thanks for the pics Derek. Just like everything else its addicting. I guess this course is short but dont really have any to compare too lol. I dont need more go for this thats for sure. I turned down the boost to 7 (480rwhp) and still was a challenge to keep it smooth and not stab the throttle!
Planning more aggresive alignment and stickier tires after these are shot (which wont take long). Yesterday makes me want to go pick up another cheap nova and make it super light, a junkyard 5.3, and killer suspension.

I like this pic. I tried my hardest to keep both hands on the wheel but several times I ended up grabbing the vent window a couple times no matter how hard I strapped in. Damn bench seat. LF tire looks a little light too.

Midway stadium is our smallest venue... Most courses we do are in the 55-60 sec range for the fastest guys, and the events at DCTC are 70-75 seconds. We could do even bigger courses at DCTC, but we start having timing issues when we get beyond 80 seconds, as our timing equipment can't handle more than 5 cars on course at a time...
Unfortunately, we don't have any really awesome venues up here... DCTC is a road-course, with too many limitations for course layout, and some risk of damage if you go off-course. Midway Stadium is too small, and we have Valley Fair and Canterbury Park which both have big sized parking lots but no grip at all.

Just looked at the results, and damn man... you were not far off the pace of some really good drivers. Awesome 1st time out!
