I am looking to buy a SATA 3000 gun for shooting clear. Any recommendations for the RP versus the HVLP? 1.2 or 1.3?
Thanks.

I use a SATA 2000 HVLP for basecoat and a SATA RP with a 1.3 nozzle for my clears with excellent results. If I were in the market to buy a new clear gun, I would look very seriously at the Anest/Iwata LS400 Supernova. Most of the clear that I spray is PPG 2021 or Concept 3000 for smaller jobs. I don't paint as much as I used to but I am considering changing to HOK UC35. I also use the 3M PPS system instead of a traditional cup.

Thanks Steve. The reason I was considering the SATA over the Supernova was because of the digital option. I was thinking that would help keep me in the right zone for spraying.
Have you tried SPI clear? It seems to be well liked by those that use it and the price seems very good.

I have a Sata 2000 Dig for color, Sata 3000 HVLP for Sealer and Sata 3000 RP for clear. I love the RP for clear. I did spray with the supernova at a paint class and WOW, kinda odd spraying clear at 19PSI.

Thanks Bad. I decided to go with the RP based on the recommendations here.
Thanks.
