Funny part is that some dufus emailed me asking if this was my car becasue he thought it was a great deal that he didn't want to miss out on..
I email him and told him to ask the sell for the vin number or a picture of a dollar on the fender..
Shortly afterwards I got an email from the crook asking me for the VIN number of my car.. :pat:
Lets just say that my email back to him was.. "colorful" :)
I think this is about 11 scams now involving my old car..

That is strange that your car would be hit that many times by the scammers! I never knew that much scamming went on! Oh well it is a very nice peice for sure! GREAT WORK

Is it just me or is he scamming in Australia? Isn't that some sort of international thievery? You should just get him the vin number from a police car. See what kind of fun happens then.

Ya' know? the funny thing is, if these bozo's made the sell price something interesting like $37K - 20% deposit required within 24hrs, they'd probably look less suspicious and run off with the $7K deposit.

As for the scam.. it must work because they keep doing it.. must be people out there foolish enough to fall for it.. :dunno:

Heh well high taxes my ass.
I live in Norway and we have the highest taxes in the world.
and it will cost me around $850 to get the car ready for driving here.All taxes included in that.
Can anything be done, other than harrass the guy via e-mail? Not that that's a bad idea.

Well if is the guy thinking that this is legit then he should be embarrased.. if is the guy trying to rip people off then who cares..
I think these scammers mostly take advantage of greedy people that think they are getting something for nothing.. it's sad but seemingly true..

You should write an article on the dangers of internet sales and scams. A set of guidelines / checklist on what to look out for and how to protect yourself. Plus, you can plug yourself and give the award in there. :2nd: Speed reading section, maybe?

I wonder if Larry can install safeguards to protect members on this site from others obtaining information. It's one thing to steal images for illicit reasons, but I wonder about somebody using personal info like accounts through emails, etc. I'd be a little worried about being targeted on a regular basis. -Jabin

Just paint your car an ugly shade of gold, add a modified AAR stutter stripe and install red seats. Noone would ever use a car like that for scams. But Steve's 69? It just looks too damn fine.

I don't know about that.. in fact somebody stole a pic of your car and snuck it into the July PHR ;)
My car is ripe for this because there are so many pics of it online.. and it's pretty..
When I buy my Mustang I will do a side story about internet rip offs and scams.. thanks for the idea guys :)

That's pretty funny....I'll take it for 7k though if you're still looking to sell...I could use another 69....
On another note, why not just watermark all the pics with an email address (doesn't have to be your primary one) that was if it's stolen then the watermark will be there and the potential "buyer" can email the address...
