Well , I hit a deer Friday night.
The deer came across in front of me from my left and I swerved to miss it , but I caught it with the left front fender.
It only barely dented the front of the fender , but the impact swung the deer around and hit my door .
And his kicking hooves scratched my paint too.
Looks like I'll be having David Sloan put a door skin on my car over the winter.( Maybe a roof skin too )
Those of you , that have seen my car , know that it needs to have the body restored anyway , so maybe this will be a catalyst.
I actually took the interior door panel off and popped the dent out , but the door skin is still wrinkled.
Oh Well , maybe I should take up deer hunting too.

OUCH, what a bummer. Well I guess it could have been much worse, or you could have been the deer.

Definitely could've been much worse. On the plus side...this may be just what you needed to get the body redone.

Glad your OK, could'a been much worse. Sucks about the car, maybe uninsured motorist will cover it, LOL.

Looks like you already did take up deer hunting. May I suggest using a gun or bow in the future though? :)
It never is a good thing hitting one, but it could have been much worse. I hit one in my parents' '84 T-Bird about 20 years ago and wiped out the whole front clip, radiator, fan, water pump, etc.

Sorry pal, hopefully insurance covers it all.
I hate those stupid animals. I was driving the Z tonight and we kept seeing them everywhere. Argh

Even the deers are drawn to your car for a closer look Jeff---
That sucks bro---hopefully you will be able to leverage this to your advantage over winter---new motor, trans, body and paint----LOL. I'd try it with my wife anyways.

Awwww, lame. It's almost as if it was more the deer hitting you. Good luck though. I never would have gotten around to body work had not a drunk in a van hit my Trans Am.

am I the only one that thinks its ironic that the shop doing the repairs to your car after running over a deer is called road killer

I'm not turning it in on insurance. The car needs restoration anyway .
I'll just start with the door skin , then the trunk pan , then the roof skin..
Next year , my car will be a patchwork of primered panels and orange.

Why not? Your premium will not be effected by a deer hit (I've hit 3 of them) and if you have collector insurance, they'll take real good care of you. :)

How many lbs of venison you got in the freezer now? You could make a couple bucks back on jerky alone...

Man that stinks. I haven't even had mine out since I drove into the garage from RTTH. I agree with Derek69SS...you should turn it in. Any insurance agent worth their salt will tell you that's why you carry insurance (or at least that's what mine tells me). Besides you did what I've always been told, which is to HIT THE ANIMAL, don't try to dodge it or you'll end up in the ditch and do a whole lot more damage or even get hurt or killed.

There will be no snowballing , I'm doing this car like a quilt.(Patchwork , one panel at a time..)
More like " build it while you drive it .."
Next year my car will have a primered door and a primered roof.

LOL, guess you should put a shotgun rack on the list of mods while the car is down.

You're lucky you're in GA and not up here. Up here, deer are the size of small steers and close to as heavy. I remember the first time I saw deer around Ft Benning. It really surprised me how much smaller they were.

Last year I was 1/4 mile from home and a deer ran into the right front of our car, spun and hit the pass door and ran away. I turned it in as it was a $4000 repair. Insurance never went up. Glad you're OK.

Man! sorry to hear it, bummer, but you REALLY got lucky.
We have encountered several road ornaments, big time pucker factor, specially on the larger varieties.
Your accident confirms why hunters wear orange, it's as good as camo! lol
