It's not just for kiit cars. It's not just for cars. It's the Socialist Republic of Kalifornia implementation of cap and trade, etc. Read the scoping document at http://www.arb.ca.gov/cc/scopingplan/document/adopted_scoping_plan.pdf

It's hilarious and scary at the same time.

i don't understand why more people don't just vote with their feet and get the hell outta there- and don't say it's because of the weather, because that would mean that Californians are shallow and stupid.

i do like the last paragraph of that link, tho- not passing this bill would effectively cut funding to the very agencies that don't want this bill passed. only in California..

I just moved to Cali from Idaho to enjoy the nice weather, and the fact that there's more going on in general, especially the automotive scene. So far wages are no better but housing is 2 to 3 times more. Then you've got all the crazy legal stuff always going on. I'm about fed up and ready to move back to Idaho and just deal with the cold weather.

I got out of California in 84 because I saw this coming, illegals, high housing prices, government over regulation and bad attitudes. I moved to Ohio and could not believe the difference, totaly 180 degrees different than CA in all of the above mentioned issues, in ohio you still don't have to do the yearly safety/smog inspection and you can register your hotrod with year correct original licence plates for about $25.00 !!, I also live part time in NC and it's the same on all counts except for the inspections. California is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there again and if I'm going to visit it would be to transfer flights to Hawaii, haha.

born, raised and will die here. Lived in Iowa, Arizona, Hawaii visited Virginia, Colorado, Florida, Oregon, Washington and Nevada. I love CA the most. Its just a state of mind

Moreover, the majority of funding for the Yes on Prop 23 campaign has come from companies, many of which are oil companies outside of California

So what? Did you read the scoping document? I could give a crap who donates funding to stop stuff like this. The proof is in the pudding, unless of course you subscribe to Pelosi logic in which you need to pass it in order to know what's in it.....

There is a name for any single person on this planet who criticizes the financial melt-down but supports cap and trade. The definition of that name is " a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings." Not saying anyone here fits that description, just that it's true. Derivatives (financial instruments for which value is based on the price of something else) are bad, but cap and trade (based on a wholly imaginary value assigned by the state/federal government but having no underlying value) is good? Umm, can't get much more of a contradiction than that......

yes I did, do you even care what the other objectives are with these bills? Who cares who contributes? AYFKM???? All i am saying is people should read and take a closer look at the government and back door agendas.

My point is you are fuct no matter how you vote. On any bill.

Who cares who contributes? Not me. I read it and the objectives are based on incredibly false premises and filled with crap and innuendo. There's the whole "broken window fallacy" that flies in the face of proposed "Green Job Creation". Tell Spain about that massive opportunity to create a "green economy". "A decrease in retail sales" and "increases in energy costs" will be offset by "improvements in efficiency". Reeaalllyy...... This statement from the same people who brought you a bankrupt state government..... Today I listed to that perfect example of why we should enforce term limits - Barbara Boxer - on NPR, talking through her posterior about this very thing. She was absolutely clueless and out of touch. I'm no huge fan of Fiorina, but a pig in a blanket would be an improvement over Barbara Boxer.

You CAN do good on voting. Vote this crap down. Vote 23 up. Get rid of this crap. It's a plague on this country that eventually creeps eastward from the socialist mecca of the US to infect other states.

So no - I don't care who contributes to getting rid of crap. The enemy of my enemy CAN assist in my efforts. Just because there are things about oil companies that perhaps you don't like (kind of interesting considering we're in a PERFORMANCE CAR FORUM and not a hybrid forum) does not mean that because they oppose legislation it's automatically the wrong thing to do.

We should all read and make our own decisions. But read. Learn. Get active. Get involved.

Same here! I have historical plates on mine. No inspections or having to renew anything. All for $25. :) Pretty cool.

Yeah, I'm close enough to Ohio to be there in 45 minutes. But, I'm on the wrong side of the border. PA has over the past decade or so because "Eastern California". We implemented CA emission standards several years ago, which made new diesel cars illegal to buy/sell in PA for a couple years. Nice. Our antique and classic plates are a joke. If you even just put a nice set of wheels on an otherwise completely factory vehicle, it can no longer be tagged as antique or classic. No "correct year" license plates. It's hard as hell to title older vehicles here. Taxes are getting ridiculous. Government is not quite as bankrupt as in CA, but Ed the thief Rendell is working on it before he leaves office. In PA our largest export over the past 20 years is our kids. It's too bad, because there's a lot to like about PA but the "Kalifornia" culture of big government, spending into oblivion and taxing until the rocks bleed are killing us.
