I need to order some heads to wake up a sbc 350 bored 10 over. It was built a while ago with a "325 hp cam". I don't know the specs. Its got flat tops and I want to run pump gas. Can you guys tell me what I need for combustion chamber size, valve size and intake runner volume? I don't want to bolt on some vortecs because I don't want to change intakes. And if you have a suggestion for some good cheap assembled heads let me know.
thanks

Well, it's really, really impossible to be able to predict the performance of an engine without knowing much of anything about it, but the Edelbrock performer RPM heads are generally quite good for a street engine. With flat tops to get you in the 10:1 static compression range, depending on head gasket you're going to want something in the 72-72cc range.

Valve size and Intake runner volume are going to depend on the peak power you want to make, and what cam you're using, so it's near impossible to tell you based on the information provided what would be ideal. Your best bet is going to be either get as much more information as you can, or expect to settle for better, but not ideal gains.

Look for good, used AFRs or Darts. 195-200cc intake ports. They'll wake that thing right up. Have 'em checked out before you bolt them on. If they're good, you'll definitely notice a big difference..and you'll want more cam soon!

Thanks guys. I know I don't have cam info so I'm not expecting perfect but this will be better.

AFR 195s would be a huge improvement in mid to top end, but you're going to loose some bottom end going that big. 170-180 would be better for a daily driver. assuming everything else is stock on the 350, including intake and everything, I doubt you'll be hunting for more cam if you go really big on the heads. But it will be more fun.

The cam you are referring to is an older design but still a pretty good one. The specs are as follows. Duration @ .050 221. Lift .447. I am not sure on the intake centerline but I think that it is around 114 degrees.
