Saw this 54 "Nomad" prototype at Goodguys:

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/10/4556497975_a659529a3b_z-1.jpg

"General Motors produced 5 of the 1954 Chevy Nomads for the auto show circuit, only 3 are known to exist. The Chevrolet Design Studio wanted to create a forward thinking and forward looking design for the 1954 Nomad, including round headlamps mounted on gently curving fenders, a trademark Corvette grille and a forward sloping B-pillar"

There are a few differnt aftermarket companies doing those Corvette wagon conversions, most were pretty ugly - like that one.

As for the 54, there is a company making that body now in fiberglass!

Ford also made a Mustang Wagon Prototype in 65

GM actually made a Corvette wagon concept car sometime in the late 70's. it didn't go over too well with the general public for some reason.

I built a couple of those mid 70 wagons like that first one in your Craigslist ad. Did one with a Full Greenwood Super Wide Body kit was the snazzzz when we did it! Complete with multi color candy paint, looked like a Christmas ornament. Fricken X wife has all those old days pics, UGH!

Prototypes.....some how they got loose and not crushed.

Or they are customs. May be worth some $$$$$ to the right person.

Ford made it? I heard a rumor that some marketing guy and a car designer had some European company do the conversion. Not sure where I saw that info.

The company that is making the repro '54 body is here in Oregon.

http://superior54.com/

They are putting together a PT one. It doesn't look as fugly in person but I would still rather have a "regular" 'Vette. Chevrolet took the swept pillars and gate and made the '55-'57 Nomads.

If this is the same one I came across at Back to the 50s show in StPaul..its a replica of the prototype...talked to the owner and he recreated it from pictures and limited information of the original..it was a showstopper! the year after that show...a company showed up with kitcars of it that could run late model corvette suspension.

My dad built a yellow one for a guy in the early 80's. It looked very much like the one in the ad.

I'd be all about making that into a PT car if I had it. It'd just be too hilarious to not do. Actually, hauling stuff to track days, like say, another set of wheels and tires, would be way easier. I'm all for it.

I just checked their prices, $125,000 for a roller.

I think technically this body style is called a shooting brake, not actually a wagon. If you do an image search for Firebird shooting brake, or Mustang Shooting Brake you get some awesome cars. Personally the Porsche 944 shooting brake conversion is beautiful, but then again I've always been a sucker for an awesome hatchback.

Here's the Mustang version. It is owned by a collector in Texas.
