Re-discovered them recently and appreciate the clean understated styling of the hardtop, which seems to get overlooked vs. the fastbacks. That big engine bay should accept a 5.0 Coyote crate motor nicely it would appear.

Yes. One of my earliest memories is crawling from the trunk to the interior when dad had his back seat out. 33 years later, the car is in my shop with the back seat out and no way in hell could I fit through that opening again.

Dad had boxtops or fastbacks. I'd fancy a 'vert or Country Squire myself.

my best bud jc/cheapthrillz is working on building a 65...he's really taught me to appreciate galaxies--they're very subtle but very badass cars.

That's cool though.... at least you appreciate them!

I love box tops and bubble tops!

My father-in-law passed away back in July. He had two Galaxies convertibles that we have to sell. One is a 63 and one a 64. The 64 is a XL 500 with a 390 big block and 3-2bbls. 64 is red and an auto in the floor with console. Anyone know what these are normally selling for on average for a unrestored cars?

I'm no expert, but if it were me I would check completed listings on ebay as one source...

Here's a '63 vert for sale.

They are very cool cars. I got a customer car in the shop right now for a full resto. 427 R-code, 2 fours and a four speed!

It'd be nice to see a thread on it here. :twothumbs

Big 427 FE/Cammer fan here. But I agree with your choice as the way to go if I had one of these cars.

Ford priced it competitively which says to me they're serious about tapping into all the potential crate motor sales out there.

Like any Ford fan I'm interested to see what bolt on mods can do for it.

Definitely cool cars, often overlooked. I do like the old school look in the pictures, it fits the car.

Of course since we are talking about Galaxie 500s a little song for it.

A friend of mine had one, with either a 390 with NOS. Very nice car. I have always loved those years. I would love to do a pro-touring 63 Country squire.

Well, you do own a Ford Motor Co. product as well, so your post is accepted.

I have a good friend with a very nice 63 that is looking to sale if intersted. He is planning on taking it to Daytona next month to sale. If interested I will get his info to you.

I've got one! It's a '63.5 fastback, just with a lowly 352 and Cruise-o-matic so far, but I've got a 390 to build for it, and it needs a modern automatic something awful...

So far I've upgraded to Baer brakes, TT2 wheels, and tubular front control arms from Gearhead Cruiser Products (long story). It's got the Gearheads front swaybar as well. Handles OK for such a big car, but it could always use some improvement. Last fall I finally put on the Crites hood. The car needs paint, too, so I just painted the hood hot rod black - that way it doesn't look like I was trying to match the old paint... I just added a tach/MSD ignitition/dist/Edelbrock intake this summer, still getting it dialed in. Next up is installing a '64 Mercury gauge panel (room for more gauges).

Anyway, here she is:
