Not sure if I had one too many Martinis tonight. We saw one of these at a local car show a few weeks ago. The one we saw had the full Mexican treatment, but I just fell in love with the body.

Michael found this little pink jewel tonight and we are actually thinking about buying it. I LOVE the roof, straight out of the Jetsons! I am thinking it would make a cool little Pro Touring car. Picture one of our 540HP L92's, some 18" Forgelines, and killer stance, all brushed nickel trim, a nice California two tone paint!

Curb weight with the 4cyl was only 2100LBS, add 400LBS or so for the V8 and 6 speed and it is 2500LBS? Maybe 2600LBS!

Unless someone sobers me up quick, I think it will land in our "someday" pile of cars right beside the Opel GT and the 65 Riviera!

I found a couple other pics.

BTW, it is a 1964 Consul Capri

They look like they would make a pretty cool project, and the black one reminds me of the batmobile.

Lots of potential there!
But instead of another overpowered Cobra wannabe, I would try to build a well balanced car out of it.

3.8 Rover V8 for plenty of power and light weight, five speed, and upgraded suspension. If you just have to use a V8.
Should be lots of suspension tech known for these, they were road-raced in Europe.

I suspect there are some modern Ford cammers that would do everything you could want in a street capable car, and be much easier to install.

If I were not scaling back on projects I would have beat you to it.

I love when we think outside the box. Its funny it looks like a cross between a mini 58 Chevy and from the side it reminds me of of one of those early Volvos. I do think it will take some of your creativity to pretty up the grill area. it would be a something very cool and very different. Ron

Oh but over powered is so much fun!

I had one of those Rover V8 in 1980 in a brand new Triumph TR8 coupe. Coupes were super rare, only about 200 of them as I remember and they were somewhere close to a couple hundred LBS lighter then the convertibles making them less then 2500LBS and . I immediately removed the TR8 stickers and went hunting new Trans Ams and Corvettes. It had a really quite exhaust so they never seen it coming. It was slow as hell, but after we did some work on it ran 15 flat, but way faster then any of the other current "muscle cars" of that day

Identical to the one I had, color later to be affectionately named Parsons blue!

I saw a green one with a white roof, lowered with a good stance and some of the trim shaved and it looked really cool. Kinda thought the same thing, but a turbo 2.3 would make for a killer little commuter car.

:hmm: Reminds me of my Dad's '58 Mercury.
Looks small enough to present some challenges when it comes to packaging.

I think a 'kustom' guy would have more fun with it...but..

..I also think with some Forgelines and a Turbo V-6/5-speed stick, it'd be a blast!

I like little wierd cars like that ..
I always like the Ford Anglia's and Nash's and Willy's cars too ..

Ford made a bunch of neat little cars in England in the 50's

Ugly is a subjective term. Merle Haggard said " I never went to bed with an ugly woman, but I damn sure woke up with a few." Musta had something to do with those martinis Frank mentioned.

I say build on the "two-face" theme and make It a performance hybrid. Wonder if the hybrid gear from a silverado could be made to fit? Nice thing about that gear is it's pretty much built into the tranny. Otherwise, you could hop up the ford small hybrid gear.

man, i hope you sobered up. the german corvette (the opel gt) and the riv have potential. this would take some work to look pretty enough to be called retarded. no offense, but i would rather spend my dough on strippers and booze!!
