77 BBC nova, street / strip.

new leaf springs, new caltracs.

stock 10 bolt, posi, prolly 3:90 gears.

ET street Drag Radials

ran 7.5 / 1.6 sixty foot last time out

other runs were much worse (8 flats, 8.1)

i walk the wife into the staging lane, back into the water box, and thru the burnout.

i noticed the tires hopped when she first started the burnouts....and then settled out.

on her best run...it chirped, like it spun the tires, then the tires were quiet, then they chirped again (almost like the wheels came off the ground) and they it ROLLED out.

i think CalTracs work like a four link, when the bar pushes forward, the triangle plate rotates down, and makes a solid assembly of the traction bar and the leaf spring.

i don't think that controls wheel hop...i think that is a function of the springs/shocks.

my drag shocks look WORE OUT and old and nasty, but my buddy says "oh them are still good"

how do drag shocks work in the rear? do they RESIST compression (do NOT allow the wheel to come up) and ALLOW the rear to drop (to regain traction)

I have old Monroe's on the front, but have brand new 3 way front shocks, how do i want to set them? they should help with weight transfer, are the front shocks doing anything in the burn out box?

how do front shocks affect a launch?

all the pics, if you are bored.

Go to Yellowbullet. Look on the Stock suspension section. Loads of info and drag guru's there for you.... I would say you need double adjustable shocks front and rear to enable you the tune the Cal Tracs and get your 60ft down.
Oh and if you have a lot of power get some wheelie bars as well LOL!!!
