Some of you know I'm building my SN-66 (https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=71021) Budget Build. I've introduced myself a while back using my other project I dubbed BOSS 408. I've been working on the B-408 project more lately and realized I didn't have a project update thread on it. I have been tracking the build on other forums but I love PT and would like to share my build here. IN the end I will have TWO!! Pro-Touring 66 Mustang coupes!! Sorry for the repeat pics on this post, I'm transferring over to the project update and any further pics will be new ones in following posts.

I bought the car for $400 and started its transformation. I've gone through 4 different engine combinations, 302, 331, 351w and now the 408 Clevor.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

The car started out with a C4 auto which I quickly swapped for a T5 when I had the 351w. With the 408 I was hunting for a TKO600 but for the same price I found a Viper T56 locally.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Comparing the Viper T56 to the Ford T5 I figured a T5 bellhousing was the perfect depth so i made an adapter to mate the two.

I clearanced the shock towers
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

After HRPT07, I found a great deal on a Cobra IRS locally so I decided to get rid of the Versailles 9".

The IRS is 3" inches wider than the 66 rear so I decided to use
deeper backspaced wheels. The 03 Cobras were a good fit with 275/40-17s.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

The flares I tried to make looked good but didn't give any real clearance.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

To balance out the car I had to run 275's up front too, and flare it.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

The front flares mocked up, pieced together 13" disc brakes on Granada spindles.

I'm still blending the flares into the 1/4 panels

Here's a close up of my custom disc brake setup. If you look close you can see the original mounting hole for the upper control arm in the shock tower. If you look even closer you can see a little bit of the 1" Shelby drop hole peeking up over the control arm. The arm is mounted 3/4" lower than that. I like to show my work, notice the weld bead on the upper control arm.

front 19x9
rear 19x10

New tires came in, Pirelli PZero Corsa 285/30-19 for the rear, they're 1/2 taller than the 275/40-17s, will raise the rear 1/4".

Test fit of the 19x10 rears, they fit without spacers! That's 7.5" backspacing.

This is the rear frame rail where I mounted the upper IRS. I was expecting the bolt to rub the tire considering the 99-04 Cobra guys have to shave the bolt head down.

Top right corner of pic shows the front of the inner wheel well where it comes close to the tire.

Looks good. Great project. What is the manufacturer of those 19" wheels, they look just like mini-lites.

In my mind, I thought those wheels would look pretty good but I was wrong...they look amazing. Great looking car, I love flared fenders.

What kind of wheels are those? They look kind of like mini-lite wheels.

Thanks everyone. These wheels were made to look like a modern day minilite. They are limited edition Saleen wheels for the 2007 Parnelli Jones Mustang. Too bad I can't find the matching center caps, although Saleen caps will fit.

I think I'm going a little overboard. My other 66 Mustang is getting these: 20x9 front and 20x10 rear same backspacing as the 19s. I think I'll go with a custom fender lip to allow the wheels to mesh well.

Got a lot done, I still can't figure out my a/f ratio and carb jetting. No matter what secondaries I put in I'm still leaning out when the secondaries kick in. My rear main seal is leaking too, all kinds of problems. It was worth it to drive it around the block. Got on the highway. I didn't push it hard. If I stay under 2k rpm it stays fairly stoich. I fouled the plugs about 5 times this weekend, and I think I'm only running on 7 right now. The IRS is so smooth! and the shifter relocated closer to me almost feels too good to be true. It's like driving a new vette.

Took some pics and finally got a quick video clip.

Thanks everyone.

I picked up the front tires yesterday and had them mounted, Pirelli PZero Corsa systems are not cheap, I got these for less than half the price NEW, adding to the "Budget Build" theme. Here's the car with the 19's. Took it to the cruise-in last night, had a blast. 17 or 19 I can go either way. The 19" tire is 0.1" taller in diameter so the speedo will read about the same and it's electric so I can program it.

That's 285 wide front and rear now, but I think I can squeeze 295 front and 315 rear.
