Back in Black is back at Prodigy.
After a couple of years of driving its time for some upgrades. DSE subframe and subframe connectors. 6 piston wilwoods up front. Possibly rehoop the front wheels for some more meat up front. Gen IV, the original A/C is shot. LED tail lights. Removing the shaggy tan carpet and going back with black.

Here are a few things I have been thinking about changing, if you guys wouldnt mind giving some opinions.

1. Removing the chrome steering column and going with either a painted flat black or natural finish. (the chrome matched the original design but doesnt match the theme now IMO)
2. New steering wheel probably black but have no idea on the style???
3. Replacing the chrome rear bumper with a painted smoothed bumper.
4. Replacing the side mirrors with later model mirrors. dont know which ones.

1. I'd paint it black
2. Pick a nice Momo suede steering wheel
3. Yes
4. Aftermarket motorcycle side mirrors are cool looking, maybe not so much functional though, something to think about.

1. What about the black powder coated columns from Ididit?
2. Agree that you should be able to find a nice piece from MOMO.
3. Absolutely. Same black as car or maybe flat or different finish?
4. What about painting the stock mirrors black?

I thought about just painting the column, but I would like to get my key out of the dash and on the column which means new column. I like the Ididit powdercoat but would prefer it to be flat black. Anyone using the pushbutton columns? I see Flaming river and Ididit have one. It looks like the flaming river system uses the same fob to unlock the doors.

We did not talk about the bumper but funny enough I was looking at the car and notice that back bumper is ****! Looks like the chrome is going to jump off it! I would smoth it and paint it like we did the front. That was one of the things i was going to mention when we got to it.

Great Minds.

Which one? Narrowed it down to one I picked, one the wife picked and one we agreed on. I should probably just go with her pick cause she won't say anything about the price.

Frank, Shanna pointed it out when we were leaving for Pigeon Forge, she said she wanted it painted. Think we could narrow it up a bit to tuck into to the body a little tighter? She also said I needed a black steering wheel. I love it when she tells me what to do

1st one, Competition for me

Definitely the competition wheel. It's cool without being too modern, which I would say the third wheel may be.

The black carpet will look nice. I like the 2nd gen mirrors on first gens, but some don't.

I think a set of these in black would also be a nice touch. http://www.shopfesler.com/products/1968%252d69-Camaro-Door-Jamb-Vents-Small-F.html

I believe the Ring Bros make some jamb vents that look great as well.

Shanna liked the third one, I think its Nero. I thought to modern looking as well. We both picked the competition wheel, that's probably the way to go.

Those jamb vents look very nice, also need the cowl screen. I would like to change all the aluminum and chrome trim parts over to black anodized at some point but i may be better off to build a new car

I thought about doing that as well. The original mirrors can be a pain to keep set in place, I need some loctite, superglue and a couple of bungie straps to keep them still.. You know what else would be a nice thing to have for verts, a rearview mirror that mounted up higher, the stock one blocks the view to the right when making right hand turns, especially through the dragon. I think there was 2500 right turns.

I like #2, but that clearly makes me odd here.

Having pictures available, I would paint the rear bumper the stripe/wheel color, IMHO. Cut up and tucked in of course. Also seeing your interior means suede is out, looks good!

My first pick was #2 also Robert.

Badbu68, that is an interesting thought... If I had the money that would look really neat if the rest of the chrome/aluminum was black anodized. I think the wheels would look awesome with a black anodized lip and that color center, then do the black anodized tail lights, with black lenses. It would definitely change the entire tone of the car. Oh well maybe on the next one.

Looks like we will be doing an engine upgrade, mini tub, rehooping both front and back wheels... Shoot with my new found wealth I am going to just build a new car. Anyone that has any orders with Frank better get them filled soon because after Shanna and Lisa tag team his checking account he is going to be shipping air...
