Just finished dyeing my seats and the drivers side was in rough condition.. I used SEM products and and followed the direction exactly. I ended up only doing one seat because I used an entire can of dye on just one seat. I thought 1 can would cover both seats.
Here is the seat fresh out of the car.

Seat cleaned. This SEM soap is some good stuff and is very strong. I used a grey scuff pad and lots a lint free towels.

Step 2.

Apply Vinyl a leather prep. No pic here it is just a clear solvent.

Step 3.

The fun part, spray a mist coat 3-5 times allowing 5-10 minutes between each coat.

not too shabby, thanx for posting. How do you think the dye will cover going from black to red ?

Im not sure. I went to a darker color which was easy but going to a lighter color might be different. It is going to take me 3 cans of the SEM dye just to do the front seats.

This stuff is not holding up well. I now believe this is more of a coating than a dye. It is already wearing off. Damn.

10+ years with SEM dye on my seats. They were white to start with and are now blue. They've held up well. Just saying.

that sucks. i dont know how many days you let them dry, but usually when i dye cloth i let them dry for days. just put it in a corner and forget about it, move on to other areas. i would imagine being vinyl it would take some time for it to soak up the dye.

A friend changed his seats from green to lipstick red, and they survived quite well, occassionally he would touch up an area, but the whole interior was sprayed, all the plastic stayed great, just the seats required an occassional touch up.
