Does anybody really doubt that he will make his money back?
With the pent up demand for these wheels I would bet it wouldn't take him (or someone else) very long to recoup their investment.

WTH China? I would think somebody here in the states would jump at the chance to make him up the tooling for that much $$$$$$$$$$:dunno:

No, the 50's and 60's are over. You know, the era when people wanted to work.:box2:

Man, $25k is cheap tooling for a wheel. In the states it would be quite a bit more!

The tooling over in China is cheaper for just about every type of molded product. I design a lot of molded diecast aluminum, magnesium, and plastic parts and China's tooling is really inexpensive. Most of our Ameican vendors use Chinesee tool makers but usually design the tools themselves.

It is cheaper to get magnesium castings from China since China has the largest supplies of magnesium. China is kinda like the US. You can find some good suppliers over there but you have to look a lot harder and stay on top of them making sure they stick to your standards.

George is like every car builders dream. Rich guy that lets you build wild and crazy cars with with almost no budget and few restrictions. I'd love to find one of those guys and start a shop.

Another story from the HRM issue has George looking at a project truck at a swap meet (I believe Pomona) and he tells the seller he'll only buy it if he'll complete it...and George tells him to do it like he was doing it for himself and to let his imagination run wild.

I don't know if there is such a thing as reincarnation . . . but I wanna come back as George Poteet!

I think the most impressive thing, is all the young builder talent over the years that got their start because Mr. Poteet provided the resources to showcase their early work.

I'd love to meet him in person and see his entire collection of cars. It looks like he could start a museum.
