Where's the best location for an oil temp sensor ???

I would imagine it depends on what you want to know, temperature in the pan, before it goes to the pump, I like mne after my oil cooler, before it goes into the motor.

I like to know what the temperature of the oil is IN the motor. After the cooler only tells you that the oil is cooled down, but the main thing with oil temp is knowing that it is below the point of breakdown - generally around 250 for Dino oils, somewhere around 300 for most Synthetics.
So either in the pan or if you are running a cooler pick it up where it comes out of the motor. You can also "T" it at the pressure sender location.
JMHO
