Looking for a Chevy Small Block 406CID

Looks like my 383 is shot and I need a new motor. The whole car is set up for a small block I just want to swap the motor (top and bottom). Everything else, headers, carb, intake etc are all new and I don't need anything else.

Looking for NEW balanced and blue printed 406CID engine. Would like to see numbers around 425/425. Please don't point me towards engines with "only a couple of runs on them" that is what my shattered 383 was.....

Suggestions about engine shops? I want to keep the price reasonable.

Think I can get it done for 5K?

Oh the car is in the mid-west.

I just bought a 383 from Smeding Performance 450+/475+ and they did a great job, price as quoted and on time. Good communication with me through out the build process, call and ask for Ken 210 338-8585. It was over 7K but was carb to pan dynoed with flywheel, water pump and ignition so a long block might be closer to your budget. I researched a lot of builders before I placed the order and they did what they said they would

well I recently bought a blueprint 383 dressed crate engine. dynoed at 405hp 440lb's has a 50000 mile warrenty on it. through a few upgrades and you would be well on the way to 425/425 cost 4,200. Through a new manifold, serpentine kit and new carb and you probably will hit your numbers. Best of luck
