How to remove oil stains from cast alum wheels?

I got a little oil splatter on one of my Vintage wheel works V48's. It wont come off with soap and water scrubbing. Acid cleaner?

Vintage Wheel Works wheels are tough, that blasted center just wants to absorb everything. Try brake clean.

You might also think about painting the wheel centers. Duplicolor makes some nice wheel paints in a spray bomb application that will help with future maintenance. They even have a clear.

the cheaper bikes come with plain aluminum engines, and they SUCK stuff into the pores.

Read a thread a while back somewheres about a dealer's wash guy spraying S-100 all over a hot engine on a nearly new bike with a silver/alum engine. Ended up stained and they tried everything they could think of without success. Last shot was to call the MoCo for advice and they <no kidding> recommended Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner. Stuff along with some elbowgrease supposedly returned the engine to like new.

Since then I've been using SB and a long-bristled *extremely* soft brush when both my black/chrome and silver/alum engines get grungy. Stuff works for me. Your mileage may vary...

I would give Vintage Wheel Works a call... perhaps they could recommend something

Eagle One Mag Wheel cleaner WILL clean those wheels up. However, it will strip any paint off and will etch any polished aluminum. You can repolish the aluminum with Mother`s billet polish though quite easily
