I used the search engine to try to find an old thread about engine mount comparisons I had read about but can't find it again. I need a taller motor mount for my ls in my first gen. Everything fits perfectly but the collectors. If I use a taller mount or stand it would raise the engine up and the header problem would be fixed. I have plenty of room around the steering gear and rag joint. I have ATS plates and mounts now.
Anyone know of a part number or picture of a taller one?
Thanks.

If I remember correctly the ATS plates put the SBC motor mount upside down which effective lowers the engine. You might try a different set of LS adapter plates like S&P that keep the SBC motor mounts in their original orientation (right side up) and should keep the engine close to the same front to back. Also, you might be able to turn the ATS plates over if you swap sides (left and right). Hope some of that helps.

Are you running a stock subframe? What headers are you using? I would use the engine plates that go with your headers. Are the collectors just hanging too low? Or are the hitting something?

I'm using ATS plates with Dynatech 2 7/8'' primaries with 3" collectors. Fits really nice but the #5 primary tube turns up and goes over the top towards the firewall causing the stock spark plug wire to be very close or on the tube. I made a set of coil pack relocators and mounted it else where so that isn't an issue now.

If I turn over the ATS plates I guess I need to swap sides too? Turn them over so the ATS logo is against the block?
I will try that tomorrow and let you guys know what it does. Lets hope it works.

I took the picture from the Speedtech webpage and did a little photo editing. The picture on the top is how the plate should look when "flipped". The picture on the bottom is how the plate looks when installed as designed by ATS. Notice the slope in the front of the ATS plate is down when installed . . . the slope in the front of the plate is up on all the other LS adapter plates and it is up when you flip the ATS plates. The slope I am refering to is the line between the two forward most bolts (one of which double to mount the adpater plate to the block and secure the motor mount and the other only secures the motor mount).
You cannot have the ATS logo facing the block because one of the holes is countersunk that mounts the plates to the block to clear the SBC motor mount. You switch the right and left adpater plates. Think of taking the plate and rotating them over and under the engine 180 degrees. When they switch sides they will now be upside down and the ATS logo will also be upside down.
I hope this get you the clearance needed. Tough to explain in words but I think the picture will make it clear.

I totally understand what you are saying. I will try to flip them. Thanks a lot.:fingersx:

I have a Big block in my Camaro with the engine rised approx. 1", for ground clerance.
With the motor rised, the transmission output shaft/drive shaft angle changed. I had to open up the trans./drive shaft tunnel to get the right angles. You may run into the same problem.
I´m not sure about small block/LS engines.
About the header collectors, I used steel band-style exhaust clamps for more groun clerance.(see pic.)

Works for me!:)

Thanks mike, I tried the big block motor mounts today but they didn't slide over the stands. They slide on but not down far enough to get the bolt holes to align up. So, now I guess I have to change the stand to BB stands to get the mounts to work? My sb stands are a little to fat.

Just to let you know, I did what you said and it didn't change a thing. The measurements were the same either way. Wasted a lot of time pulling the headers and engine to swap it around.
Thanks anyways.

Sorry. The only idea I have left is adding spacers under the stands.
