In my quest to dare to be different, I have found that I may need to trim off more of the front of the 78 T/A WS6 clip than I was expecting so as to be able to mount the front sheetmetal. I don't know exactly how much yet.
So, I was just wondering if there would be any real advantage in converting my WS6 steering gear box over to a power rack.
Thanks.

Are you planning on using a custom rack?
If you're planning on using the stock sub frame and pick up points with an off the shelf rack it will likely be more trouble than it's worth.
There are plenty of steering boxes available which would be a significant upgrade to the stock box.

With all of the great gearbox options available now the only real advantage to a power rack is the small weight savings. To mount a rack on a first or second gen and keep bumpsteer neutral requires a lot of surgery and fabrication and the it's really hard to justify the amount of work vs. the payoff...

I give a thumbs up to the Lee Performance 670 steering box.
A true bolt in with improved valving and feel.
Not as exotic as a full redesign with R&P, but it does improve the feel and responsiveness.
I would like to measure all the components of stock steering links vs a R&P setup, it has to shed over 15 lbs.
The 670 box is 5-6 lbs lighter.

Though a rack is really nice and has some advantages, it's difficult to justify the cost/benefit for a stock subframe car. The Lee box mentioned above is a very good part, and when combined with good steering, suspension, wheels, tires, and tuning can yield a very good handling.

I run 12;1 AGR (http://www.agrperformance.com/) box cost 350 bucks from summit and it dropped right in using the same old lines and pitman arm didn't need any special parts

Ive heard that you can bolt on a Iroc gearbox and have great steering over stock for a great price. Can I just bolt this box on or will I have some issues? Is the Iroc box a good box or should I be looking in another direction?

Try the search feature for IROC steering box. It's been discussed many times.
